Sixers’ Danuel House Jr. to pick up $4.3 million player option for 2023-24

While free agency is still weeks away, there are still some housekeeping affairs that the Philadelphia 76ers and their players have to take care of before that time comes.

Danuel House Jr., for example, had a $4.3 million player option for the 2023-24 season. It is the second year of a 2-year deal he signed in the 2022 offseason.

Per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, House Jr. will pick up that option and remain in Philadelphia. He averaged 4.8 points and 1.7 rebounds while shooting 33.6% from deep in his first season with the Sixers. He was in and out of the regular playing rotation, but he remained ready whenever his number was called.

House Jr. will likely be battling for minutes with the likes of Jalen McDaniels in the 2023-24 season. McDaniels himself is a free agent, but if he does return, then the battle for backup minutes will be between those two.

House Jr. had 10 points off the bench in the Game 5 win over the Boston Celtics in Round 2.
