Six-run eighth inning carries Aberdeen to 11-6 Legion baseball victory over Lake Norden

ABERDEEN — The Aberdeen Smittys scored six runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to pull out an 11-6 American Legion Baseball win over Lake Norden on Saturday.

Aberdeen (6-3 overall) led 5-0 after six innings. Lake Norden scored two in the top of the seventh and four more in the eighth to go up 6-5. The Smittys answered in the bottom half of the eighth and got the win.

Cooper Eisenbeisz went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs to lead Aberdeen. Brendan Livermont and Casey Vining each added doubles.

Eisenbeisz also got the win in relief. Gavyn Jarogoske started and allowed no earned runs in 6 2/3 innings with six strikeouts.

Turner and Tyson Stevenson each collected two hits for Lake Norden. Ryker Warrington drove in two runs. Dawson Noem took the loss in relief.

Aberdeen is slated to visit Yankton on Wednesday.

Amateur Baseball

Clark Traders 14, Elkton Snappers 1

ELKTON — Jay Huber and Brent Griffith combined on a four-hitter and the Clark Traders used an eight-run sixth inning to roll past the Elkton Snappers 14-1 in an amateur baseball game on Friday.

Griffith, David Novak and Grayson Florey each collected two hits for the Traders (2-0). Florey hit a double and Griffith drove in three runs. Huber tossed five shutout innings for the win.

Aiden Erickson had two hits for Elkton.
