Six players each from Franklin, four from Lincoln-Sudbury named lacrosse All-America

Accolades, hundreds of points and nothing. Translation: National recognition, stuffed stats sheets and what Jayden Consigli has taken for granted.

The recently-graduated Franklin High lacrosse player is one of four Panthers to earn All-America status from USA Lacrosse. Consigli, who earned the accolade last year as well, totaled 99 points this season and is headed to UMass Lowell to continue his lax career.

But his time wearing local colors will stay with him long after he puts the stick down.

“Playing lacrosse at Franklin meant so much more than playing a high school sport,” he said in a text to the Daily News. “I’ve built friendships that will last my whole life and I have grown so much as a person.”

The two-time Hockomock League All-Star scored more than 100 points as a junior, joins Tyler Sacchetti, Luke Davis and Justin Alexander as Franklin All-Americans out of the 28 selected from Eastern Mass.

“It’s very rewarding knowing all the hard work during the offseason and during the season are always worth it,” Consigli said. “My team is full of great talent and I’m surrounded by great players who help one another towards our goals.”

Consigli and Alexander will play at UMass Lowell, a program that has not had a winning season since restarting lacrosse in 2015. That could soon change due to the amount of players from Franklin on the roster: Ben Greco, Jake Davis and Jack Sullivan, who will all be seniors next season, already play for the River Hawks.

“Jayden is the best off-ball attackman we’ve had in the program,” said Frankin boys lacrosse coach Lou Verrochi.

Luke Davis, Jake’s brother, is a three-time All-American after winning Hock MVP honors for the second time in a row. He scored 77 goals this season after netting 94 as a junior. He was also named Hock MVP for football last fall.

“Luke is probably one of if not the best athlete to attend Franklin HS,” Verrochi said in a text.

Davis, who will play lacrosse at Boston University, was also grateful in his thoughts.

“Being a part of Franklin lax has meant everything to me,” he said. “I have grown up going to tons of high school games while watching my brothers (Will and Jake) and their friends play. Getting the same opportunity to play in a program like Franklin was amazing, especially with this brotherhood we have formed through the years of playing together.”

Sacchetti, a two-time league all-star, cracked the 100-point mark (57 goals, 46 assists) this season and will play club lacrosse, with a possibility of walking onto the varsity, at Fairfield University.

“It’s a special accomplishment for sure,” he said of achieving All-American status. “I’ve always been a humble player, but this recognition is something to be very proud of.

“Playing for my hometown and high school is something I’ll always cherish my whole life.”

Alexander is a two-time Hock All-Star and does his best work in the middle of the field. He won 75% of his faceoffs this spring and Verrochi calls him “one of the top fogo (faceoff, get off [the field]) for years.”

Franklin lost just twice this season, including to Hingham in the Elite 8 on June 10. The Panthers defeated Acton-Boxborough and Longmeadow – which both advanced to the Final Four – and Lincoln-Sudbury, another Elite 8 team in Division 1, along the way.

“Facing difficult opponents during our schedule brought out traits in myself that I didn't know I had,” Consigli said. “It truly was an honor wearing blue and white and I hope people get the same experience I got.”

Franklin is one of two schools with four All-Americans; BC High is the other. Ryan Winters of Lincoln-Sudbury, who will head to Bowdoin College, was named All-American as well.

Hockomock League MVP Katie Peterson and Hock All-Star Kaitlyn Carney were named All-Americans as well. Peterson, also league all-star in basketball, is headed to UMass Amherst to play lacrosse.

Carney, a four-time league all-star and all-time program leading scorer for field hockey, will play lacrosse at James Madison.

State champion Lincoln-Sudbury landed three players on the All-America team: Lucy Davis, Harper Friedholm and Katie Wolin. Davis will play at Michigan, Friedholm at Cornell and Wolin at Bucknell.

Wayland’s Deirdre Brown, an American University commit, was named All-American as well.

Lincoln-Sudbury's Reagan Malo was named to the Academic All-America team, joining Lucy Davis, Peterson and Wolin.
