Six-player field complete for upcoming Ellesse Pro Tennis Challenge

Aug. 10—The six-player field is complete for next week's Ellesse Pro Tennis Challenge in Wyomissing.

Dallastown grad Holden Koons, who will play his final season of college tennis as a grad student at Wake Forest, has been added as a wild card entry.

He joins Lucas Pouille, Filip Misolic, Maximilian Neuchrist, Michael Zheng and KP Pannu in the tournament that will be held Aug. 18-19 at the Emkey Tennis Garden.

Koons was a two-time District 3 Class 3A champion (2016, '18) and the PIAA Class 3A runner-up in 2018.

He played four years at James Madison and finished last season ranked No. 9 in the Atlantic Region singles rankings after going 29-12. He also has played in ATP Futures events.

Round-robin play will be held Aug. 18, with day and night sessions. The semifinals and finals of the event, which is presented by the Berks County Tennis Association, will be on Aug. 19. Prize money is $9,000.

The tournament will benefit the City of Reading Tennis Program and the Antietam High School tennis programs, as a portion of COR's proceeds are going to Antietam, which suffered severe damage to its courts and lost equipment during last month's flooding.

Tickets are available at https://newcobrands.com/, and in person at Hillcrest Racquet Club, Fromuth Tennis and the Sinking Spring YMCA.
