Series recap: In a series long on runs and short on pitching, the Jumbo Shrimp fought back Saturday and Sunday to earn a series split on the road against the Nashville Sounds. They remain in a tightly-bunched pack near the top of the second-half standings in the International League East.

Highlight: It wasn't a hit on the scorecard, but it won a ballgame just the same. Xavier Edwards' sacrifice fly brought home Jacob Amaya with the game-winning run in the 10th inning, boosting the Jumbo Shrimp to Saturday's 10-9 win against the Sounds.

Crustacean sensation: Outfielder Jake Mangum has stepped up in the second half to provide some much-needed consistency at the top of the batting order. He went 12 for 29 (.414) with three doubles in the Nashville series, nudging his season batting average to .304.

On deck: In contrast to their Major League Baseball partners, the National League East-leading Atlanta Braves, the Stripers have struggled in 2023. But they'll be bringing a big name to town: Max Fried, runner-up in Cy Young Award balloting in 2022, is expected to make his final rehab start in Jacksonville Wednesday before he returns to the Braves.

Ballpark fun: Thirsty Thursday turns into Turkey Thursday this week for the Thanksgiving in July celebration, including a Thanksgiving-themed menu with stuffing, cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie. There's also the return of Dog Day on Thursday, plus '80s Night on Saturday and Star Wars Night — complete with pink Scampi jerseys — on Sunday.

Probable pitchers Tuesday: To be announced.
