See who brought home LHSAA state track and field titles from the Shreveport area

The 2023 LHSAA state track and field championships were held this past weekend at LSU’s Bernie Moore Stadium and several Northwest Louisiana athlete brought home the gold. Here’s a look at who finished at the top.

Class C champions

Samora Sampson, Gibsland-Coleman: Won the long jump at 16 feet, 6 inches, triple jump (33-2) and the 100-meter hurdles in 17.15 seconds.

Jordan Allen, Gibsland-Coleman: Won the 300 hurdles in 51.71.

Demarquis Durham, Gibsland-Coleman: Won the 200 in 22.20.

Marquez Tate, Summerfield: Won the shot put with a throw of 40-6.75.

Gibsland-Coleman: Boys won the 4x100, 4x200 relays and 4x400 relays

Class B champions

Ambree Collinsworth, Castor: Won the girls javelin with a throw of 123 feet.

Jamarion Clark, Castor: Won the triple jump at 42-8.25.

Izayla Harris, Doyline: Won the 100 meters in 12.13 seconds, the 200 in 24.93 and the 400 in 56.69, setting class records in all three.

Caysten Mingo, Doyline: Won the boys javelin with a throw of 159 feet.

Emma Carter, Quitman: Won the high jump with a height of 4-11.75.

Bryan Lay, Quitman: Won the pole vault by clearing 12-10.75.

Quitman: Won the boys 4x200 relay in 1:34.45.

Ikeia Brown, Simsboro: Won the 100 hurdles in 16.77 and the 300 hurdles in 47.75.

Class 2A Champions

Jackson Burney, Calvary: Won the 800 in 1:59.36, the 1600 in 4:22.00 and was on the winning 4x400 relay team to be named the outstanding athlete of the meet in Class 2A.

Calvary: Boys won the 4x400 relay in 3:26.27.

Caleb Stamper, D’Arbonne Woods: Won the pole vault with a 10-foot vault.

Franklin Roemer, Loyola: Won the 3200 in 9:57.96.

Class 4A Champions

Demetria Harris, Huntington: Won the 100 hurdles in 14.47.

Serenity Palmer, Huntington: Won the triple jump at 11.05 meters.

Rondisia Williams, Huntington: Won the 100 in 11.92.

Huntington girls: Won the 4x200 relay in 1:38.66 and the 4x100 relay in 47.45.

Kendall Odums, North DeSoto: Won the discus with a 32.69-meter throw.

Javonte Taylor, North DeSoto: Won the high jump with a 1.92-meter jump.

SheLunda Brooks, Woodlawn: Won the shot put with a 11.13-meter throw.

Class 5A Champion

Devon Oliver, Parkway: Won the discus with a 49.46-meter throw.
