Shore high school golf player rankings. Top boys, girls from freshman & sophomore classes

Over the past five weeks, the next generation of Shore Conference golfers has done a great job introducing themselves, with some impressive performances by boys and girls players from the Classes of 2026 and 2027.

Because not only have the current crop of freshmen and sophomores set the stage for the future, they've already had a palpable impact on the current season, with the NJSIAA sectionals set for next week

Here are our rankings for the top boys and girls players from the freshmen and sophomore classes for the current season:

BOYS

1. Dylan Mattessich, Manasquan 2026

Opened the season with a top-10 at the Wall Invitational, before placing sixth at the Shore Conference Tournament and 13th at the Monmouth County Tournament.

2. Jack Stamberger, CBA 2027

The Colts’ rookie was the low Shore Conference finisher at the Garden State Cup, following it up by placing ninth at the SCT and 20th at the MCT.

3. Sam Landers, Ranney 2026

Fired a 75 to grab seventh place at the MCT, following that up by finishing 13th at the SCT as the Panthers pulled off a stunning victory in the team competition.

4. Ryan Quigley, Holmdel 2026

Carded a 75 to finish seventh at the MCT, with the Hornets tying for third, and was 13th at the SCT, after placing 12th at the Wall Invitational to open the season.

5. Kevin Ostrander, Point Boro 2026

His 15th place finish at the SCT was the best among Ocean County competitors, after finishing eighth at the Ocean County Tournament.

6. Chase Jakubowski, Wall 2026

Has been instrumental in bolstering the back of the Crimson Knights lineup, shooting 76 at the MCT to place 13th, while his 79 at SCT was good for a top-20 finish.

7. Paul Reilly, Southern 2027

Nearly won the OCT title in his first try, finishing a shot back, while leading the Rams to the team title, before placing 28th at the SCT.

8. Chace Schell, RBC 2027

One of only six players from the Classes of 2026 and 2027 to finish in the top 30 at both the SCT and MCT.

9. Jackson Bodony, Southern 2026

Finished tied for second at the OCT with at 80 at LBI National, helping the Rams secure the team title.

10. Remy Mander, Holmdel 2026

Secured a top-20 finish at the SCT by firing a 79 at Charleston Springs, as the Hornets finished alone in third, four shots behind Ranney’s winning total.

11. Ben Martorana, Point Boro 2027

12. Gavin Karlin, Ranney 2026

13. Mason Mooney, Lacey 2027

14. Jaiden Shields, Monmouth 2026

15. Ji Shiun Chiang, Holmdel 2027

16. Ryan Monday, Jackson Liberty 2026

17. Morgan Tyhanic, Pinelands 2027

18. Jack Nolan, Point Boro 2027

19. Jacob Franklin, Freehold 2026

20. Joey Bacskai, Barnegat 2026

GIRLS

1. Lauren Nam, Trinity Hall 2026

Has been consistently excellent this spring, shooting 74 to place fourth at MCT, while grabbing third at the SCT with a 79.

2. Minna Liang, Holmdel 2026

The Hornets’ No. 2 player has helped them win titles at the SCT and MCT, finishing seventh and sixth, respectively, at Shore “majors.”

3. Mia Martinez, Pinelands 2027

Made a statement in her first high school tournament by winning the OCT title with a 77, before backing that up by placing 12th at the SCT.  Martinez was 19th at the Boys’ OCT.

4. Morgan Tyhanic, Pinelands 2027

Her brother, Brandon, won the OCT title last year as a junior, and she finished third at the girls OCT in her first try, while placing ninth at the SCT.

5. Liz Gordon, Holmdel 2027

Has helped solidify the Hornets lineup, with her 14th place finish at the SCT helping them secure the team title, just as her 19th at the MCT did.

6. Ryleigh Luethold, Manasquan 2027

Stepped in and made an immediate impact, beginning by placing 11th at the MCT, before getting 15th at the SCT.

7. Gabriella Vega, Toms River South 2027

Shot 94 at Bey Lea to finish eighth at the OCT, before posting a 96 to finish 17th at the SCT, the fifth best score among Ocean County competitors.

8. Addison Salais, Jackson Liberty 2026

Got off to a fast start this season by placing sixth at the OCT, before a solid 22nd  at the SCT earlier this week.

9. Cecilia Esquieres, Saint Rose 2027

A 12th place finish at the MCT helped the Purple Roses finish second among Shore Conference schools, with a 23rd at SCT helping her team finish fourth.

10. Bella Gesell, Rumson-FH 2027

One of only four from the freshmen and sophomore classes to place in the top 30 at both the SCT (27th) and MCT (17th).

11. Hannah Jang, Marlboro 2026

12. Reese Beirne, Southern 2027

13. Julia Morch, Barnegat 2026

14. Catherine Wam, Barnegat 2026

15. Kalli Garbacki, Central 2027

16. Sophia King, Jackson Memorial 2026

17. Avery Jastrzebski, Barnegat 2027

18. Paige Peyton, Middletown North 2026

19. Nya Persons, Jackson Memorial 2026

20. Madeleine McInnes, Wall 2026
