Sheriff's office investigating fight after Snow Hill-Stephen Decatur basketball game

Multiple local police departments and the Worcester County Sheriff's Office are investigating a fight that took place following the high school boys basketball game between Stephen Decatur and Snow Hill on Jan. 18 at Snow Hill High School.

According to the Worcester County Sheriff's Office, a fight took place in a hallway outside the gym after the game, which disrupted the orderly exit of patrons attending the game. During that time, additional fights occurred, resulting in additional law enforcement personnel being requested by deputies on the scene.

The sheriff's office said deputies are reviewing "an enormous amount of video" to identify the people involved, and charges will be filed at the appropriate time as the investigation continues. The Snow Hill, Berlin and Pocomoke police departments, as well as Maryland State Police and the Department of Natural Resources are also assisting in the investigation.

On Friday, Jan. 19, Snow Hill High School also released a statement saying that the altercation among spectators blocked the exit as most attendees were attempting to leave, and that they were collaborating with the county sheriff's office to identify individuals involved and implement appropriate consequences.
