Shenandoah’s Haley Van Voorhis becomes first woman to play in college football game as non-kicker

A tremendous first on Saturday in college football — one that took way too long — as Shenandoah’s Haley Van Voorhis became the first woman to play in a game as a non-kicker.

Van Voorhis got in the game against Juniata in the third quarter and had an immediate impact with a quarterback hurry.

She is a DB and Robert Griffin III already took notice of her journey.

Van Voorhis is a 5-foot-6, 145 pound junior. More info from her bio on the school website.

Per ESPN.com:

A 5-foot-6, 145-pound junior, Van Voorhis spent the past two seasons playing on junior varsity. The Plains, Virginia, native went to high school at Christchurch and was 2019 All-State Honorable Mention. Her senior season was cancelled because of COVID-19.

Van Voorhis is also a member of Shenandoah’s track and field team, running sprints.
