The San Jose Sharks have released their training camp roster.

There is no Joe Thornton or any other surprises on it.

Sharks fans’ hearts were set a-flutter by reports that fan favorite Thornton had moved back to San Jose — and video of Jumbo working out in teal.

Thornton is believed to have a desire to play his 25th NHL season. The 43-year-old UFA was the No. 1 pick of the 1997 NHL Draft, and played from 2005 to 2020 in San Jose.

At the moment, we’re not sure what Thornton’s future holds.

Instead, William Eklund and Thomas Bordeleau will be among the youngsters competing for San Jose Sharks’ jobs up front. They’ll be vying with Max Veronneau, Jasper Weatherby, Scott Reedy, Jonah Gadjovich, and Jeffrey Viel for roles alongside these 12 presumed opening night Sharks forwards Tomas Hertl, Logan Couture, Timo Meier, Kevin Labanc, Luke Kunin, Oskar Lindblom, Alexander Barabanov, Nick Bonino, Nico Sturm, Matt Nieto, Noah Gregor, and Steven Lorentz.
