Sen. Kyrsten Sinema has named Hannah Hurley her new communications director.

Hurley has served as Sinema’s press secretary since 2019. Taking over as Sinema's press secretary is Pablo Sierra-Carmona, who has served as Sinema's deputy press secretary since 2019.

Prior to working for Sinema, D-Ariz., Hurley served as a deputy press secretary for the late former Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., and as a press secretary for the Senate Majority PAC. Prior to his work as deputy press secretary, Sierra-Carmona served as a press assistant in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Sinema’s previous communications director, John LaBombard, who worked in Senate communications for 15 years, has accepted a position as senior vice president with ROKK Solutions, a public affairs and strategic communications agency.

“John has contributed so much to our team’s successful work delivering results for Arizona — leading communications efforts for Senator Sinema’s Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, her laws curbing suicide among our troops and veterans, and more,” said Meg Joseph, Sinema’s chief of staff in a written statement. “We appreciate his service over these past years, we’ll miss him, and we wish him the best in his new position.”

In a Tweet, LaBombard said: "I leave the Sinema comms shop in the very best hands w/ huge congrats to the now-comms. director [Hannah Hurley] and now-press sec. [Pablo Sierra-Carmona.]"
