See where Greater Lansing high school football teams stand in playoff picture entering Week 8

Outside of the COVID-19 altered 2020 season where every high school football team in Michigan made the postseason, Perry has never been part of the playoff field.

The Ramblers are close to changing that.

With a 5-2 mark, Perry has matched its highest win total in a season over the past decade. And with two weeks remaining, the Ramblers are in a good position to reach the Michigan High School Athletic Association state playoffs. Perry is ranked 15th in playoff points in Division 7 ahead of games against Lakewood and Bath to close the regular season. The teams with the top 32 playoff point totals — or top 16 for 8-man teams — will qualify for the playoffs.

Perry is among 25 teams from Greater Lansing who are in position to make the postseason. Those teams include Everett, which moved from on the bubble last week to in the Division 2 field following its Week 7 victory over Holt. The Vikings are among the final five teams in entering a closing schedule that features games against DeWitt and Okemos.

Olivet (2-5) and Leslie (3-4) also moved into the playoff field this week and currently own the last playoff spots in their divisions entering the final two weeks. Olivet has games against Lansing Catholic and Gull Lake to end the season as it chases a spot in Division 6. Leslie, which is trying to make the field in Division 7, faces Grass Lake this week before ending the regular season with a Cascades Conference crossover.
