Section 9 high school football coaches association choose all-section, all-class teams

The Section Nine Football Coaches Association has released its all-section and all-class/league teams for the 2023 season.

All players who received back of the year and lineman of the year are also on the all-section teams. All of the players who made all-section were also chosen to the all-league teams.

The sectional finals were held last weekend: Middletown beat Newburgh in Class AA; Cornwall beat Our Lady of Lourdes in Class A; Port Jervis beat Marlboro in Class B; James I. O'Neill beat Chester in Class C; and, John S. Burke Catholic was declared the Class D champ as the only representative. All five champs will play in state quarterfinal games on Friday and Saturday.

The Eight-man championship went to Sullivan West, with a win over Pawling. Sullivan West plays in a regional final on Friday, which is as far as the state permits.
