SEC baseball power rankings after Week 11: South Carolina the biggest riser

South Carolina was the big riser in this week's SEC baseball power rankings after a series win over Kentucky. The Gamecocks' victory was filled with twists and turns but they came away with a dominant showing in the rubber match.

As for the rest of the rankings, it was just minor tweaks from the previous week as the pecking order continues to solidify with three weeks to go in the season.

All rankings, records and stats are as of games April 28

1. Texas A&M

Texas A&M won two of three against Georgia, including coming back from giving up nine runs in the first inning for a run-rule win. The pitching isn't quite as good as it was earlier in the season, but the offense is still incredibly difficult to handle.

Record: 38-6 (15-6 SEC)

Last week: 1

2. Tennessee

The league's best offense was relatively quiet in the final two games against Missouri, but Tennessee's pitching staff stepped up in the home sweep.

Record: 37-7 (15-6)

3. Arkansas

The story of Arkansas is seemingly the same every week: This team can really pitch, but the offense is lackluster enough to raise concern about how far those arms can truly take them.

Record: 37-7 (16-5)

Last week: 2

4. South Carolina

South Carolina seems to be rounding into form at the right time with a wacky series win over Kentucky. The Gamecocks have enough star power but are still trying to figure out their best lineup.

Record: 29-14 (11-10)

Last week: 7

5. Kentucky

Kentucky has proven it can dominate the lower tier of the SEC. Can the Wildcats beat good teams? They've now lost back-to-back series against Tennessee and South Carolina.

Record: 33-9 (16-5)

Last week: 4

6. Mississippi State

One swing from Hunter Hines in the rubber match between Mississippi State and Vanderbilt makes the difference in the rankings this week between what are otherwise two very similar teams.

Record: 29-15 (12-9)

Last week: 6

7. Vanderbilt

Like Mississippi State, Vanderbilt has a lot of pitching and not a lot of offense. Unlike Mississippi State, the Commodores don't have a player who can single-handedly win a series for you the way Hines did.

Record: 31-13 (11-10)

Last week: 5

8. Alabama

The Crimson Tide finally won a road series over Ole Miss, which is very helpful for their quest to make a regional. Alabama still has two road series in its final three and has largely struggled to win away from home.

Record: 28-16 (9-12)

Last week: 8

9. Georgia

Georgia has a very good record but little in the way of resume substance. A home sweep of Alabama was nice, but outside of that the Bulldogs' only series wins are over Ole Miss and Missouri. Georgia has yet to win a road series but will get another shot at home this week with Vanderbilt.

Record: 31-12 (10-11)

Last week: 9

10. Florida

Florida is in the danger zone in terms of making a regional at all, sitting at just one game over .500. The Gators finish with a very difficult schedule including Tennessee, Kentucky and Georgia.

Record: 22-21 (9-12)

Last week: 10

11. LSU

LSU has now won back-to-back series over Missouri and Auburn. Making a regional is not completely out of the question, but the Tigers will likely need to win all three remaining series over Texas A&M, Alabama and Ole Miss − a tough task.

Record: 28-17 (7-14)

Last week: 12

12. Ole Miss

After its Egg Bowl victory, Ole Miss has now lost back-to-back series to Georgia and Alabama. Like LSU, making a regional is possible but a long shot. The series between the two to end the season will likely be an elimination series for the loser.

Record: 23-20 (7-14)

Last week: 12

13. Missouri

Missouri has a sneaky-good pitching staff, but the offense is the worst in the league by a long shot. The Tigers are one of a handful of teams fighting for the last spot in the SEC tournament.

Record: 19-26 (6-15)

14. Auburn

Auburn picked up its third SEC win of the season in the season finale over LSU. The Tigers have three more weeks to avoid the distinction of becoming the first team to lose 10 SEC series.

Record: 21-22 (3-18)
