Seahawks running back Rashaad Penny finally finding his footing

Seattle Seahawks running back Rashaad Penny finally had the breakout in his season coach Pete Carroll has been waiting for. Penny has shined over the last month, most notably in Week 17 in the team’s win over the Detroit Lions.

“I’ve seen guys across the board be excited for him, partially because he is such a good player and a dynamic aspect of our team right now, but also because they know what he’s overcome, and it’s been such a hardship for him to make it through,” coach Pete Carroll told reporters on Wednesday. “Everyone is cheering for him in that regard, so it’s a really good story.”

Against the Lions, Penny logged 25 carries for 170 yards and two rushing touchdowns on the day. For his efforts, he was named the NFC’s Offensive Player of the Week.

“He is a really humble kid, he just doesn’t seek any kind of praise or attention, he is really quiet and goes about his work,” Carroll said. “Guys have gone out of their way to make expressions towards him.”

Penny and the rest of the Seahawks have just one more game on the schedule this season – Sunday afternoon in Arizona at 1:25 p.m. against the Cardinals.
