Seahawks open 2024 schedule against Denver, will see 4 prime-time games

A national audience will get a look at the new-look Seahawks under coach Mike McDonald at least four times during the 2024 season, after the NFL schedule was released Wednesday.

Seattle is slated for two Thursday night games, hosting San Francisco on Oct. 10 and at Chicago the day after Christmas, Dec. 26, a Monday Night Football game at Detroit on Sept. 30 and a Sunday night home game against Green Bay on Dec. 15. It's the most national prime-time games the Hawks have had scheduled since 2021, though last year they did end up with a fourth prime-time game when a Sunday game against the Philadelphia Eagles was flexed to Monday Night Football. The same could happen with this year's season finale against the Rams.

McDonald's initial season will open by hosting Denver, similar to how the post-Russell Wilson era began in 2022. The early season features a heavy slate of games at Lumen Field, with six of nine in Seattle, and four of those six against playoff teams from last year. Despite that tough stretch that features Miami, San Francisco, Buffalo and the L.A. Rams, overall the Hawks schedule is considered one of the league's lighter loads, based on 2023 winning percentage. Their 2024 opponents, which includes two games against all NFC West teams, the AFC East and NFC North and Atlanta, was 48.8%, ranked 24th in the league.

The Seahawks will play nine home games and eight on the road. AFC teams only play host eight times this year in the league's unbalanced 17-game schedule.

The bye week comes in week 10, on Nov. 10.
