What Scott Drew said about Louisville job before Baylor vs Colgate in March Madness

Baylor basketball coach Scott Drew on Thursday addressed a report this week that he had turned down the vacant job at Louisville.

"I'm really blessed, because I've got a great agent, like most coaches do," he said. "They handle all that stuff and just let us coach and focus. During the season, that's all I do is spend time focusing on Baylor and that's all I'm going to say about that."

Jeff Goodman of the Field of 68 reported this week that Drew would remain at Baylor amid interest from Louisville, which recently fired its coach Kenny Payne.

Drew was in Memphis on Thursday ahead of the Bears' NCAA Tournament first-round game against Colgate on Friday (11:40 a.m., truTV). The Bears, led by guards Ja'Kobe Walter and RayJ Dennis, will be looking to make a deep tournament run starting on Friday at FedExForum.

"I think, first and foremost, I went to Baylor because I prayed about it and felt led to go. At the end of the day, when God says go, retire, whatever he says, that's all I want to do is be in his will, No. 1," he said. "No. 2, Baylor University has always given us a chance to compete at the highest level. As a coach, if you love the people you're with and you have a chance to compete at the highest level, that's all any competitor wants."

Baylor-Colgate is one of four first-round games taking place on Friday in Memphis.
