Schenevus, Charlotte Valley girls notch league victories

Dec. 7—The Schenevus girls basketball team defeated Franklin 44-28 on the road Thursday in Tri-Valley League action.

Amber Burton led the Dragons with 19 points while Sam Barrett and Cady Ritton had 12 and 10 points, respectively.

Shannon Kingsbury had 16 points for the Purple Devils in the loss.

Schenevus will visit Worcester Wednesday while Franklin will visit Richfield Springs Tuesday.

Charlotte Valley 52, Roxbury 20

Charlotte Valley cruised to a 52-20 Delaware League win over Roxbury on the road Thursday.

Kailey Whitbeck led the Wildcats with 17 points while Ella Gerster added 14 in the win.

Ryleigh Goodchild led Roxbury with nine points in the loss.

Charlotte Valley will visit Margaretville Tuesday.

Oxford 31, Walton/Downsville 29 (Wednesday)

Oxford held off Walton/Downsville in the fourth quarter to win 31-29 Wednesday at home Wednesday.

Jocie Finch led the Blackhawks in scoring with eight points while Taegan Manwarren and Ava Benjamin each added six points in the win.

Grace Walley led W/D with 13 points and 17 rebounds while Ella Beardslee added eight in the loss.

Oxford will visit Unatego Wednesday while W/D will host Harpursville Wednesday.

BOYS SWIMMING

Oneonta 104, Susquehanna Valley 70

Elias House broke a pair of Susquehanna Valley pool records Thursday as the Oneonta boys swim team won its season-opening meet against the Sabers 104-70.

House won the 50 freestyle in 22.49 and 100 breaststroke in 1:03.00. Those broke the previous records that stood at 22.68 and 1:05.67, respectively.

Logan Temming and Bastian Dudley also had a pair of individual wins for OHS, with Temming winning the 200 free and 100 butterfly while Dudley took first in the 100 free and 100 backstroke.

Elsewhere, Cyrus Wightman won the 200 individual medley and Bryson Huber won the 500 free.

Oneonta will be at Owego Free Academy next Tuesday.

The Cooperstown/Milford wrestling team dropped its first dual meet of the season Wednesday, falling to Mount Markham 54-18.

TJ O'Connor and Theo Spinosa each won by pin for C/M, with O'Connor competing at 152 pounds and Spinosa going at 124.

Oliver Horvath (124) and Adam Cole (215) each won an extra match, with Horvath winning by decision and Cole triumphing by pin.

C/M will be at Chenango Valley Friday and Saturday for the Matt Fedish Tournament.

The Sidney bowling team opened its season Tuesday with a sweep of Deposit. The Sabers won by a team score of 2938-1925.

Caidyn Lambrecht (676), Dakota Barlow (670) and Reece Yeomans (615) each topped 600 in the win while Noah Hutter finished with a final line of 547.

Deposit was led by Justin Lanner (410) and Kai Hallock (406).

Sidney will be in Bainbridge Friday for the Galaxy Bowl Tournament.
