Schenevus boys defeat Morris 3-2 in overtime

Sep. 26—Michael Competiello scored four minutes into overtime to give the Schenevus boys soccer team a 3-2 victory over Morris Tuesday.

Competiello beat a pair of defenders off the dribble and slotted in a left-footed shot into the net for the winner.

Also scoring for the Dragons were Tim Green and Allen Osborne while Mehki Regg had an assist.

Ryan Murphy and Levi Waffle each scored for the Mustangs with Jonah Baldo providing an assist.

Schenevus keeper Ryan Spranger made 11 saves in the win while Ryland Boss stopped three shots for Morris.

Schenevus will visit Worcester Friday while Morris hosts Madison Wednesday.

South Kortright 3, Margaretville 1

South Kortright earned a 3-1 Delaware League victory on the road Tuesday over Margaretville.

Jack Byrne had a goal and two assists for the Rams while Darren Dengler and Anthony Martinez also found the back of the net.

Isaac Hernandez scored the Blue Devils' lone goal thanks to an assist by Connor Wayman.

Brayden Sparkes of South Kortright and CJ Fairbairn of Margaretville each had three saves in net.

South Kortright will visit Windham-Ashland-Jewett Thursday while Margaretville will face Jefferson/Stamford the same day.

Chenango Forks 3, Oneonta 1

The Oneonta boys fell to Chenango Forks on the road Tuesday.

Matthew Rubin scored the lone goal for the Yellowjackets. Makya Morrison tallied 10 saves in goal in the loss.

Oneonta will host Owego Free Academy Thursday.

Cherry Valley-Springfield/Sharon Springs 2, Laurens/Milford 1

Cherry Valley-Springfield/Sharon Springs edged Laurens/Milford 2-1 on the road Tuesday in a Tri-Valley League contest.

Kris Cade had a goal and an assist for CV-S/SS, Max Horvath scored a goal and Aidan Bosc notched an assist.

Cole Williams scored for Laurens/Milford off an assist by Christian Lawson.

Ethan Mickel made three saves for CV-S/SS while Chase Long stopped five shots for L/M.

CV-S/SS will host Madison Saturday while Laurens/Milford hosts Edmeston Thursday.

Edmeston 2, Worcester 0

The Edmeston boys earned a 2-0 victory on the road against Worcester Tuesday.

Gavin McEnroe opened the scoring two minutes into play off a pass from Preston Graham. McEnroe would score again midway through the first half on a corner kick assist from Brock Redner.

Jason Reinert earned the shutout with three saves while Tyler Head had nine stops for Worcester.

Edmeston will visit Laurens/Milford Thursday while Worcester hosts Schenevus Friday.

Delhi 2, Oxford 0

A pair of first-half goals helped Delhi secure a 2-0 victory over Oxford Tuesday.

Elijah Ransford and Brody Livengood were the goalscorers for the Bulldogs, capitalizing on assists from Bryce Burrows and Risdon Reed, respectively.

Tabor Reed earned the clean sheet for Delhi with six saves. Oxford's Kayden Renfrow finished with four stops.

Delhi (4-3-1) will host Bainbridge-Guilford Thursday while Oxford hosts Unadilla Valley/Gilbertsville-Mount Upton the same day.

Roxbury 2, Charlotte Valley 2

Roxbury and Charlotte Valley played to a 2-2 tie in Delaware League action Tuesday.

Trevor Waid scored twice in the second half to give the Wildcats a 2-0 lead.

Roni Grieco then got Roxbury on the board with around 10 minutes left in regulation on a free kick.

With 30 seconds left in regulation, Bryton Bower tied things up for the Rockets before the two sides went scoreless through two overtime periods.

Travis Blumberg had 10 saves for Charlotte Valley while George Proctor and Taran Davis combined to make five stops for Roxbury.

Charlotte Valley will host Hunter-Tannersville Thursday.

Walton/Downsville 4, Windham-Ashland-Jewett 0

Walton/Downsville blanked Windham-Ashland-Jewett 4-0 at home Tuesday.

Phil Eggers had two goals in the win, Travis Houck had another and Tyler Reed and Gavin Harrington each had an assist. Walton/Downsville's fourth tally came on an own goal.

Nate Harrington had one save in the shutout while Windham's Jacob Schwartz made eight stops.

Walton/Downsville (6-2) will be at home against Sidney Thursday.

The Walton volleyball team improved to 8-0 on the season with a straight-sets victory over Bainbridge-Guilford Tuesday.

The Warriors won by scores of 26-24, 25-16, 25-20.

Leading Walton were Ella Rhineheart (18 assists, five aces), Katelyn Gregory (five aces, five digs), Cadence Stanton (seven kills, one block) and Arianna Bohle (seven digs).

The Bobcats' top performers were Allie Cafasso (eight aces), Kaydence Brimmer (eight kills, two blocks), Alyssa Finch (five kills) and Kaylynn Crandall (17 assists).

Walton will be at Unadilla Valley Thursday while B-G hosts Delhi the same day.

Delhi 3, Sidney 0

Delhi blanked Sidney on the road Tuesday by scores of 25-19, 25-12, 25-13.

Leading the Bulldogs were Victoria Verspoor with 10 kills and seven aces, Brinley Wager with six aces and Rebecca Verspoor with 10 assists.

Delhi will visit Bainbridge-Guilford Thursday.

Oxford 3, Deposit-Hancock 0

Oxford swept Deposit-Hancock Tuesday by scores of 25-18, 25-21, 25-18.

Ava Benjamin had 13 assists and six aces, Brianna Fowlston had six aces and four kills, Emerson LaMonica had four kills, three digs and two aces, Mya Rae Roys had five kills and three digs and Quinnlin LaMonica had two aces, three digs and one block for the Blackhawks.

For Deposit-Hancock, Kendra Terrell finished with six assists, two aces and one block.

Oxford (4-1) will host Unatego Thursday.

Oneonta 3, Canajoharie 0 (Monday)

Oneonta defeated Canajoharie in straight sets at home Monday by scores of 25-15, 25-22, 25-16.

Leading the Yellowjackets were Aubry Microni with 14 assists, Hayden LeFever with 10 aces and six kills, Izzy Giacomelli with two digs and Grace Frabel with two blocks.

Oneonta improves to 2-3 with the victory.

The Unatego/Franklin football team rolled to a 40-26 win over Newfield in 8-man action Friday.

U/F jumped out to an 18-0 lead early in the second quarter and would lead 26-6 going into halftime.

Leading the way was the three-pronged rushing attack of Jakob Sargent, Reese James and Jacob VanDermark.

Sargent ran for 110 yards and two touchdowns, James had 92 yards and one score and VanDermark finished with 76 yards and two TDs.

James also threw for 45 yards and a touchdown, a 19-yard strike to James in the second quarter.

Carl DeDominicis, meanwhile, led the U/F defense with nine tackles.

Unatego/Franklin (2-1) will visit Groton Friday.
