Schedule breakdown for week two of spring sports around the Gaylord area
Just like that, we're into the thick of the 2024 spring season.
Games just got going a little over a week ago, some teams are taking full advantage, already pushing 10+ games played as they attack the first weeks of the season.
Here is a look at the games coming this week for Gaylord, St. Mary's and Johannesburg-Lewiston.

Baseball/softball
Monday, April 15 vs. Forest Area
Friday, April 19 vs. Inland Lakes
Saturday, April 20 @ Mancelona Tournament
The two teams off to the hottest starts this spring, JoBurg baseball and softball are both 4-0 entering week two of the season with some important matchups upcoming, the most important coming on Friday, April 19 as both teams will take on one of the top competitors for the conference title, Inland Lakes.
They both cap off the second week at Mancelona's annual baseball/softball tourney on Saturday, April 20.

Monday, April 15 at Elk Rapids
Thursday, April 18 vs. Rudyard
Gaylord baseball is off to a hot start as well, now up to seven straight wins after two more wins over Grass Lake (12-0) and Jackson Northwest (8-5) to improve to 7-2.
They have two more non-conference matchups this week before Big North Conference play begins next week on Tuesday, April 23 at Cadillac.
Softball
Friday, April 19 at Jenison
The defending Division 2 state champions flexed their muscles a bit this past weekend, taking down top-ranked D2 teams like Stevensville Lakeshore, Coldwater and Hudsonville Unity Christian.
The Blue Devils will have another long travel day to take on a top-ranked team, heading down to Jenison on Friday, April 19 to face the No. 3 ranked team in Division 1.
Girls soccer
Tuesday, April 16 at Alpena
Thursday, April 18 vs. Traverse City West
Saturday, April 20 vs. Elk Rapids
It is still early, but no one has found the formula to take down the Blue Devils soccer team yet this season, now up to a 2-0-1 record after a last-second win at Big Rapids.
They open BNC play at Alpena on Tuesday before one of their biggest early season games, a home game against TC West, on Thursday.
Gaylord St. Mary
Baseball/softball
Monday, April 15 at Pellston
Friday, April 19 at Mancelona
Gaylord St. Mary has jumped right into the SVC schedule this season, playing road doubleheaders at Pellston and Mancelona less than a week removed from both teams's home openers against Bellaire.
