Saturday's Top Prep Performers: Track athletes compete in first Tara Davis Invitational

Highlights from Saturday in high school spring sports:

GIRLS TRACK AND FIELD

At Tara Davis Invitational, Agoura High

  • Royal: The Highlanders won the 4x100 relay (50.09). Olivia Kirk won the 100 (12.22). Celine Munguia won the 100 hurdles (17.07). Quincie Richards won the long jump (16-1) and triple jump (36-2.50).

  • Foothill Tech: Stephanie Botello won the discus (86-7) and shot put (30-5). Rebecca Walker  won the 1,600 (5:40.84). Bennett Rodman was second in the high jump (4-10).

  • Agoura: Paloma Padilla-Kastenberg won the high jump (5-2).

  • Oaks Christian: Grace Geyer won the mile run (5:09.33)

  • Newbury Park: Sophie Grant was second in the mile run  (5:10.80).

  • Camarillo: Samantha Villavicencio (5:47.13) was second in the 1,600. Monet Taylor won the 300 hurdles (50.78) and was second in the long jump (15-2.50).

At Malibu Invitational

  • Buena: Madison Easter won the 100 (12.08). The Bulldogs won the 4x100 relay (49.06) and 4x200 relay (1:44.47).

  • Santa Clara: Erika Flores was third in the 400 (1:06.70)

  • Santa Paula: Lissett Magana was second in the triple jump (32-1).

BOYS TRACK AND FIELD

At Tara Davis Invitational, Agoura High

  • Agoura: The Chargers won the 4x100 relay (43.69). Tyler Starling won the long jump (20-2.50). William Carr won the 110 hurdles (17.80).

  • Foothill Tech: Conor White won the 1,600 (4:32.27). Cody Bondy won the discus (120-10). Ashton Brown was second in the high jump (5-8).

  • Newbury Park: Arnav Shetty won the mile (4:24.61).

  • Royal: Asher Lee was second in the mile (4:27.09). Sean Sandwick won the shot put (47-0).

At Malibu Invitational

  • Channel Islands: Uriel Texis was second in the 3,200 (9:34.28).

  • Buena: Maxwell Daniel won the 110 hurdles (16.09) and was second in the 300 hurdles (42.88). Grant Molina won the high jump (6-0).

  • Hueneme: JR Lesher won the 800 (2:01.95) and 1,600 (4:29.26).

  • Santa Paula: Arturo Alcaraz won the discus (121-4).

BASEBALL

  • Andrew Habermann allowed four hits while striking out seven in five shutout innings to improve to 3-0 on the mound this season, Jack Plummer pitched two innings for the save, Nate Johnson was 2 for 4 with an RBI, and Dillon Marrisett finished 2 for 3 with a double and a stolen base to lead unbeaten Westlake (7-0) to a 4-1 victory over Bell.

  • Jacob Stringer blasted a walk-off two-run home run, Nate Gomez was 2 for 4 with two runs scored, Ricky Amuhada didn't allow an earned run in four innings, and Cooper Moreau went 1 for 2 with an RBI and struck out five in three innings to lead Oxnard (4-1) to a 3-1 victory over Foothill Tech. Tristen Stehle had an RBI and Adam Arth and Shane White each had two hits for the Dragons.

  • Dean Barkman allowed two hits and no earned runs while striking out five in four innings, Nathan O'Brien allowed one hit while striking out three in two shutout innings, Peyton Visage was 2 for 4 with two RBIs, Jayden Williams went 2 for 4 with an RBI, Noah Vasquez walked three times and had an RBI, and Isaiah Tillman had an RBI to lead Royal (5-1) to a 7-4 win over Saugus.

  • Timmy Alvarez went 2 for 4 with three RBIs, Ruben Venegas was 2 for 3 with an RBI, Sammy Gomez was 1 for 3 with two RBIs, and Allen Macias had a double and an RBI to lead Santa Paula to an 11-6 win over St. Bonaventure. Aman Singh and Max Peters each went 2 for 4 with an RBI for the Seraphs.

  • Nate Slaton allowed two hits and no earned runs while striking out six in a complete-game performance, Alex Van was 2 for 3, and Noah Cooper went 1 for 3 with two RBIs to lead Grace Brethren to a 4-1 victory over Buena. Andy Carrillo allowed four hits and one earned run while striking out eight for the Bulldogs.

  • Nino Garcia went 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs, Quentin Young was 2 for 4 with an RBI, Jack Laubacher was 2 for 4, and James Latshaw allowed four hits and one earned run while striking out seven in five innings for Oaks Christian in its 7-5, eight-inning loss to West Ranch.

SOFTBALL

  • Taylor Cook struck out 15 in a five-inning no-hitter, Sara Foster went 3 for 3 with a grand slam, Dylan Yamamura was 2 for 3 with a homer and two RBIs, Lily Johnson was 3 for 4 with an RBI, Sydney Swayne had two RBIs, and Riley Richardson had an RBI to lead unbeaten Newbury Park (7-0) to a 10-0, five-inning win over Santa Paula.

  • Camarillo defeated Saugus 3-2 and Royal 8-7 to win the Hart Tournament title. JJ Claycamp and Belle Sotelo were the winning pitchers for the Scorpions.
