Highlights from Saturday in high school sports:

GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY

At Gaucho Invitational, 3 miles

  • Ventura: Aelo Curtis (18:14.6) won the championship race by 23 seconds. Also placing in the top 10 were Violet Hurguy (19:35.4), fifth; Brody Daw (19:40.8), seventh; Sophia Denzler (19:56.6), eighth; and Caroline von Gunten (20:04.4), 10th.

  • Rio Mesa: Anna Dahlquist (20:02.6) was ninth in the championship race. Nina Adzic (22:56) was 41st.

  • Santa Paula: Lindsey Ramirez (21:28.1) was 26th in the championship race.

  • Foothill Tech: Rebecca Walker (20:39.8) and Kerra Wallace (20:43.5) were first and second in their race.

At Fastback Invitational, 1.7 miles

  • Westlake: Rae Castagna (13:03.0) placed second in the Large Schools sophomore race. Laura Castagna was 10th in the Large Schools senior race in 13:44.8. Alexa Pinon (14:10.3) was 15th. Michelle Navarro (13:57.5) was sixth in the Large Schools junior race.

  • Simi Valley: Keira Kassi (14:23) placed 22nd in the Large Schools senior race. Kayla Sexton was 31st in 14:51.2.

BOYS CROSS COUNTRY

At Gaucho Invitational, 3 miles

  • Buena: Logan Torres placed fourth in the championship race (15:49.3). Aidan Plew (16:39.9) was 20th.

  • Hueneme: JR Lesher was fifth in the championship race (15:53.0).

  • Foothill Tech: Chance Leandro (15:59.0) was sixth in the championship race. Braeden Elliott (16:26.1) was 12th.

  • Ventura: Hollis Costa was seventh in the championship race in 16:08.3. Henry Hammel (16:10.1) and Noah Sloan (16:10.5) were eighth and ninth.

  • Channel Islands: Edgardo Santiago Gayton (16:33.1) was 18th in the championship race.

  • Rio Mesa: Rigo Vargas (17:30.5) was 43rd in the championship race.

  • Nordhoff: Dylan Blacker (17:45.3) was 56th in the championship race.

  • St. Bonaventure: Mario Partello (18:06.2) was 64th.

At Fastback Invitational, 1.7 miles

  • Westlake: Benjamin Francis was seventh in the Large Schools race in 11:32.0. Gunner Peterson (11:45.8) was 11th. Westlake finished third.

  • Simi Valley: Jacob Arroyo was second in the Small Schools race in 10:55.3. Alfredo Izizarry-Ojedo (12:00.9) was 17th.
