Saturday Seacoast roundup: Ring's two goals lead York girls soccer

NEWCASTLE, Maine - Scarlett Ring scored two goals as the York High School girls soccer team beat Lincoln Academy, 4-1 on Saturday in a Class B South contest.

Gabby Galbadis had one goal and one assist for the Wildcats, while Isabelle Young also scored. Veda Piper had an assist for the York.

DURHAM - Sophomore Kate Michaud, with an assist to Alyska Alcocer, scored the game's only goal in this Division II match.

SALEM - Ryan Zumbach, from Owen Janetos, netted the overtime game-winner for Winnacunnet (3-1-1) in this Division I match.

The Warriors trailed 1-0 until TJ Enright tied the game in the 79th minute off a corner kick, assisted by Tim Kollmorgen.

York wins six-team race

MINOT, Maine - Cary Drake covered the Minot Park 3.1-mile course in 19 minutes, 39 seconds, leading York to a six-team win.

York had a team score of 36, while Greely (46), Cape Elizabeth (70), Maine Coast (102), Wells (131) and Poland (152) placed second through sixth, respectively.

York's Molly Kenealy placed third overall in 21:54, while Madelyn Hutchins (seventh, 22:32) and Karianna Hulstrom (eighth, 23:01) both placed in the top 10.

BOYS CROSS COUNTRY

York wins six-team race

MINOT, Maine - The Wildcats placed four runners in the top 10, earning the win in this six-team race at Minot Park.

York had a team score of 35 points, while Greely (58), Gray-New Gloucester (89), Cape Elizabeth (93), Wells (116), Poland (125) and St. Dom's (210) placed second through sixth, respectively.

York's Will Gear placed fourth overall in 18 minutes, 23 seconds; the first of four straight Wildcats to cross the finish line. Ken Hermawan (fifth, 18:38), Landon Morrison (sixth, 18:42), and Hayden Atkinson (seventh, 18:44) followed.
