Saturday Roundup: Labishak sets Rosecrans' marks; New Lex highlights Jimmy Wood placers

There was plenty of action on Saturday, and here are the results:

Boys Basketball

Rosecrans 69, Millersport 37: Grady Labishak fired in eight 3-pointers among his 38 points to lead the host Bishops (11-5) in another rout in the Mid-State League-Cardinal Division on Hall of Fame Night at Rogge Gymnasium.

Labishak's performance established a new single-season (92) and career record (255) for 3-pointers in program history. He surpassed marks set by Michael Fisher.

Rosecrans led 46-22 after three quarters despite hitting 4 of 22 3s, then hit 7 of 10 from behind the arc in the fourth to blow the game further out of reach. Labishak had six of them.

Xander Daniels added 10 points and six rebounds and James Goggin 11 rebounds for Rosecrans.

Cambridge 64, Indian Creek 48: The Bobcats placed four players in double figures to pick up the road win over the Redskins on Saturday morning.

Cambridge improved to 3-12 and head coach Kyle Pertuset hopes the victory sparks some momentum for a run heading to the OHSAA postseason.

"Today we played the best collective four quarters I have seen in five years," Pertuset said. "We now have a four game home stand before the tournament draw. That gives us an opportunity to build some momentum. We have not heard a bell, so we are going to keep punching."

Junior Jesiah Barnett led the Bobcats with 18 points and handed out four assists, while junior DionTe' Jones and senior Bradyn Gregg each added 10 points. Senior Regan Rogers rounded out the double digit scorers with 13 markers.

Drake Freshwater paced the host Redskins (4-12) with 14 points, followed by Nicky Eddy with 12 and Cale Bodo finished with nine.

Coshocton 82, Philo 55: Logan Lonsberry made 8-of-18 behind the arc and finished with a career-high 30 points, as the Redskins (10-5, 6-4) raced out to a 20-9 lead at the Power Plant and bounced back from Friday's loss.

Colton Conkle tallied 27 points, with a 5-of-6 showing on 3s, to go with nine rebounds, six assists and five steals, Antwone Johns chipped in 12 points and nine boards, JJ Herman passed out seven assists, and Alex Taylor blocked four shots for Coshocton, which was ahead 40-26 at the half

The Electrics (6-10, 2-8) were led by Drew Wright with a double-double of 15 points and 14 rebounds, while Rusty Trout had 15 points and Malachi Strickland made three 3s for nine points.

Coshocton reserves won 41-38 behind 12 points by Quinton Summers. Carter Crabtree's 12 points led Philo.

Girls Basketball

Sheridan 69, River View 19: Jamisyn Stinson hit a trio of 3s on her way to 25 points and Payton Powell passed out 12 assists, as the Generals (17-0, 11-0) remained unbeaten.

Nora Saffell had 11 of her 17 points in a 23-0 first quarter for Sheridan, while Stinson also had eight steals and five rebounds, Saffell grabbed seven boards and Ava Heller and Addi Shaeffer had eight points apiece.

Jana Pallares led the Lady Bears (2-15, 2-10) with seven points.

Sheridan reserves won 54-23, as Dennis had 15 points. Four players scored four points for River View.

Tri-Valley 57, Maysville 25: Addison Wilson and Jacie Rollison scored 12 points each, as the Scotties (13-5, 11-1) kept pace in the Big School Division with a rout of the Panthers (5-11, 3-10).

Maddie Garber had 10 points and Annika Collet added eight for Tri-Valley, which led 30-12 at the half.

Emily Lawson paced Maysville with six points.

John Glenn 44, Philo 32: Riley Zamensky poured in 26 points, eight in the fourth quarter, as the Muskies (13-4, 9-3) used a 14-6 fourth to outlast the Electrics (9-9, 5-7).

Mya Oliver also had 10 points for John Glenn, which led 18-4 after one quarter.

Bri Wolfe had a team-high 14 points for Philo, which trailed 32-26 going to the fourth and got within two in the final quarter. Bailey Dement and Caitlin Rose added six points each, Dement also had five rebounds and Aleigha Busse had five rebounds and four assists.

Emmy Babcock had 16 points as John Glenn reserves won 42-12.

West Muskingum 59, Crooksville 23: Jayden Thorton led Tornadoes (16-2, 11-1) in double figures with 14 points, as they rolled past the Ceramics (3-14, 2-10) in Small School Division play.

Lyla Johnson had 11 points, Taylor Spung 10 and Addy Antonetz nine for West M, which led 30-10 at the half.

Brynn Lundell's 10 points paced Crooksville.

New Lexington 55, Meadowbrook 26: Chloe Dick made five 3s and finished with 23 points, as the Panthers (10-8, 8-4) cruised by the Colts (7-9, 5-7) in Small School action.

Abby Wilson and Gracie Newlon each contributed 10 points for New Lex, which extended a 26-18 halftime lead to 45-26 entering the fourth.

Kenli Norman tallied 10 points and Emma Webster had six for Meadowbrook.

Morgan 53, Coshocton 11: Gianna Myers tallied eight of her 15 points during a 19-3 first quarter in the Raiders' Small School Division win.

Ellie Parsons and Myleigh Williams chipped in 14 points apiece for Morgan (7-9, 6-6).

Taylor Brown had five points for Coshocton (0-17, 0-12).

Morgan reserves won 33-20 behind nine points by Paige Copeland and eight each from Maddy Johnson and Allia Rush.

Watkins Memorial 32, Zanesville 31: Ta'myah Taylor had 12 points and Lakeyah Butcher chipped in eight, as the Lady Devils (2-15, 2-8) trailed 21-14 at the half and could not rally in a Licking County League Buckeye Division loss.

Ridgewood 47, Garaway 33: Kya Masloski and Tarryn Morris tallied 12 points each, as the Generals (14-3, 10-3) turned a 24-20 halftime advantage into a 39-25 cushion entering the fourth in an Inter-Valley Conference South Division win.

Kierston Latham chipped in 10 points to round out the balanced effort.

Buckeye Trail 39, TCC 28: The Warriors (8-9, 6-4) picked up a win in IVC North action.

Wrestling

Spicer leads MVL contingent at Jimmy Wood: Freshman Tyson Spicer pinned Crooksville's Christian Browning in the first period of the finals at 132 pounds to lead Muskingum Valley League wrestlers at the 32-team Jimmy Wood Invitational at New Lexington.

Spicer needed just 50 seconds to defeat Browning after taking him down early in the period. Spicer reached the finals after a pin of Lancaster's Braylon Young, while Browning advanced with an 8-6 win over Granville's Owen Simms.

New Lexington (218) was third behind champion Barnesville (339 1/2) and runner-up Columbus DeSales (318), who combined for six champions. The event featured 18 returning state placers and two returning state champions.

Morgan's Logan Niceswanger rolled into the finals in a deep class at 190 before being pinned in the finals by DeSales' Lincoln Shulaw, ranked second in Division II. Niceswanger, who defeated 12th-ranked Muhammad Jallaq, of Bexley, in the semifinals, is ranked fourth.

Niceswanger's teammate, Bradley Spencer, pulled off a 4-3 win against John Glenn's Cohen Bunting in the final match of pool play at 165.

Spencer then lost a 4-0 decision to defending Division III state champion Ayden King, of Barnesville, in the semifinals. Spencer, ranked 17th in Division II at 165, eventually placed third and Bunting, ranked seventh in D-II, fifth.

James Sharp was third at 106 for New Lex, while Mason Rider was fourth (138) and Harrison Ratliff sixth at 144.

John Glenn was eighth with 175 1/2 as Aidan Conn (106) and Owen Edwards were fourth (144) and Zayde Blanchard fifth (113).

Maysville, 12th with 137 points, saw Walker Archer take fourth at 113 and Jayce Daniels and D.J. Waite take fifth at 126 and 132, respectively. Archer fell, 15-6, to Marengo Highland's Konner Blaney in the consolation finals.

Crooksville was 13th (121) as Jacob Hammer pinned Rider in 1:59 to take third at 138 and Hunter Browning nipped Ratliff, 2-1, in the fifth-place match at 144.

Ethan Heady was fifth (285) and Logan Greer (165) and Kolton Snyder (190) sixth for Meadowbrook, which was 19th (74).

Laishley wins at Watkins: Noah Keen (126 pounds) and Marshall Laishley (138) won titles at to lead area teams at the 15-team Watkins Memorial Invitational.

Keen pinned Harrison's Baron Miller in 36 seconds to claim the title. It followed a semifinal pin of Grove City's Wyatt Fowler.

Laishley topped Harrison's Troy Metzger, 7-3, in the finals after edging Grove City's Luke Moore, 3-0, in the semifinals. The Bobcats tied Sheridan for eighth overall of 15 teams with 118 1/2 points.

Jacob Householder was second at 150 to pace the Generals. He reached the finals after Olentangy Orange's Dominic Lee defaulted, then fell by a 4-3 decision to Sunbury Big Walnut's Nathan Barnes in the finals.

Cash Owen was third at 106 and James Solomon fourth at 132 for Sheridan.

Springboro won with 259 1/2 points.

McFee leads Zanesville at Utica Invite: The Blue Devils' Noah McFee earned a 3-1 decision over Circleville's Ayden Blue to claim the 175-pound title as the team took sixth (107 points) in the 12-team event.

Vince Coleman (106) and Thomas Mayle (144) came in third, Tyler Morrison (215) was fourth, Kamilee Dunn (113) took fifth and Trio Ladd (190) was sixth to round out Zanesville's placers.

Philo 10th at West Holmes Invite: Talan Bailey (157 pounds) and Gibson Swartz (175) fell in the finals and each finished second to highlight the Electrics' placers, as they were 10th with 122.5 points.

Brayden Bernard (190) came in third, Jack Lincicome (165) placed fourth and Ryan South (106) and Andrew Philip (138) were sixth.
