Santa Gertrudis Academy names Galvan head football coach

Santa Gertrudis ISD announced Wednesday on its Facebook page that Frank Galvan Jr. has been promoted to head football coach.

Galvan has served as an assistant for the past three years as defensive coordinator for the Lions.

Galvan succeeds Jerry Carpentier, who led SGA for three seasons, compiling an 11-16 record.

“We need to be stronger so we focused on lifting this off-season, conditioning and toughness is also a huge factor in winning football games so our summer will be geared at emphasizing those areas,” Galvan said in the Facebook post.

Galvan is also currently serving as the school's varsity baseball coach.

The Lions last made the football playoffs in 2016.
