Sam Presti was hilariously asked about Auburn’s Jaylin Williams declaring for the draft

By now, everyone has heard about the conundrum announcers and broadcasters faced this season when covering the Oklahoma City Thunder regarding two of their rookies.

Of course, the team added two players by the same name last year through the NBA draft: Jalen Williams of Santa Clara and Jaylin Williams of Arkansas. The situation proved rather difficult at times for some announcers and broadcasters to tell them apart.

The two players quickly came up with a solution to fix the problem, with Jalen Williams going by “J-Dub” and Jaylin Williams going by “Jay Will” thereafter. They’ve found the humor in the situation, which general manager Sam Presti fully supports.

In fact, Presti added some of his own humor into the situation.

On top of the team already having the two Williamses, Presti was asked during his end-of-season press conference on Thursday about current Auburn forward Jaylin Williams. It was only natural that Presti weighed in on the senior, who declared for the draft this week.

“I definitely can’t touch that because of the rules (of commenting on prospects),” Presti said. “But I understand where you’re going with that and it is duly noted.”

Williams will be testing the pre-draft process after a career year with the Tigers, averaging 11.2 points, 4.7 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.1 steals in 33 games. He isn’t projected to be drafted but will have the opportunity to interview and work out with teams.

With another Jaylin Williams potentially on the verge of entering the NBA, Presti absolutely has to take an extended look at him in the coming weeks and bring him in for a workout.

The fans want it, Sam!
