Saints waste Dallas Keuchel’s strong start, blow lead late in 8-5 loss to Storm Chasers

Dallas Keuchel pitched six shutout innings for the St. Paul Saints Saturday night, setting them up with a 4-0 lead at Werner Park in Papillion, Neb. But for the second time in as many nights, the Saints blew a late lead, this time in an 8-5 loss to the Omaha Storm Chasers.

Keuchel struck out three while allowing just two hits and three walks in his six-inning outing, but Blayne Enlow allowed four in the seventh, including a two-run double to Samad Taylor. The Storm Chasers (45-46) kept beating up on Enlow in the eighth before he was replaced by Austin Brice, who immediately allowed an RBI single to Clay Dungan. Then Angelo Castellano, who finished the night 2 for 4 with three RBIs, hit a two-run double that extended their lead to 8-4.

Enlow pitched 1 1/3 innings, allowing five hits and seven runs, all earned.

The Saints (55-39) got one back when Jair Camargo hit a solo homer in the ninth inning, but that was as close as they’d get.

Jorge Polanco, continuing his major league rehab assignment, got the Saints on the board first with a 423-foot solo homer in the first inning. He finished his day 2 for 3 with the one RBI.

The two teams meet for the finale of their six-game series Sunday night at 5:05 p.m. Randy Dobnak will get the start for the Saints.
