Saint Mary’s Julia Lizak closes with 78 in NCAA Women’s Division III golf

NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. – Saint Mary’s College golfer Julia Lizak shot a six-over 78 in Friday’s final round of the NCAA Women’s Division III Championship at the par-72, 5,846-yard Keene Trace Golf Club.

The sophomore No. 2 for coach Susan Holt, Lizak made 13 pars, four bogeys and one double bogey in her final round, finishing with a 19-over 307 total for four rounds. Her previous three rounds were 77, 71 and 81. She finished tied for 36th place among the 80 golfers who played four rounds.

DIII golf: Saint Mary’s golfer Lizak jumps up leaderboard; Belles tied for 17th at NCAA DIII tourney

The Belles, who qualified as a team, missed the 36-hole cutoff Thursday morning after rounds of 322 and 318 for a total of 640, finishing tied for 16th place with Denison University.

Alison Takamiya of George Fox University took medalist honors, closing with a two-under 70 and even-par total of 288, one stroke better than Ellen Dong of Emory University, which finished runner-up to team champion Carnegie Mellon.
