The Rush: Odell Beckham Jr. makes bank…and history

One of the most electric players in the NFL is finally being paid like one. The New York Giants lavished Odell Beckham Jr. with the largest contract for a wide receiver in league history. The talented and mercurial pass catcher signed a five-year, $95 million contract with 65 million of those dollars guaranteed. There’s no way to know who will be throwing to OBJ in years two through five of his deal, but this season it will be Eli Manning. And with opening kickoff fast approaching, the newly paid receiver has only two weeks to prepare for his battle with shut-down corner Jalen Ramsey.

Longtime Spurs guard Manu Ginobili officially announced his retirement on Monday. After sixteen seasons, he’s accrued more than enough hardware to fill his mantle including four championships, two all-star selections and a sixth man of the year award. Ginobili was the final holdover from the Spurs’ nearly twenty year run of success. San Antonio is in the middle of their most uncertain offseason in decades, and now they’ll have to find their way without Obi-Wan Ginobili.
