The Rush: Kupp makes history and Jalen hurts ‘em in Tuesday NFL doubleheader

The Tuesday Night Football doubleheader included Cooper Kupp setting a franchise record in the Rams’ win over the struggling Seahawks and Jalen Hurts doing some of everything in the Eagles’ victory over the Washington Football team, which started someone else’s practice squad player at quarterback. The COVID crisis was why NFL games were played on Tuesday, and the vocally anti-vaccine WR Cole Beasley found himself with a symptomatic case of the virus. The NHL altered its schedule and is withdrawing all of its players from the 2022 Beijing Olympics in response to the surge of the new Omicron variant. Plus, boxer Jake Paul is making “an offer you can’t refuse” to UFC fighter Jorge Masvidal… but with one big catch.

- Stafford throws for Kupp. He's got it! Cooper Kupp, it's a Ram touchdown!

JARED QUAY: The Rams joined the not so exclusive 10 and 4 club in the NFC with Tuesday's win over the Seahawks.

- Breaking out. End zone throw. They can't take him away. Touchdown, Rams, Cooper Kupp!

JARED QUAY: When Cooper Kupp has 136 receiving yards, 2 touchdowns, becoming the Rams franchise reception leader, that's tough to beat. On the flip side, the poor Seahawks will finish with their first losing season since 2011. That's the year Russell Wilson was drafted.

- We had a good run.

JARED QUAY: Elsewhere in the NFC, Jalen hurt them in Philly on Tuesday night. You see what I did there? That was kind of cool.

- It's the snake. Hurts into the end zone. And the Eagles for the first time tonight take the lead.

JARED QUAY: Hurts had 334 total yards with 2 touchdowns on the ground and one through the air. That said, Washington held their own. When COVID ravages your team, forcing you to start a quarterback who just came off someone else's practice squad, well, kudos to you WFT for putting up a good fight. The reason we had a Tuesday NFL doubleheader in the first place--

- Well, COVID.

JARED QUAY: Yep, that's right! Cole Beasley has been one of the NFL's loudest anti-vaxxers during the pandemic. And on Tuesday, he found himself on the COVID list with symptoms. We hear at "The Rush" hope Cole can recover quickly, and more importantly, that he doesn't spread the virus. Since according to "The New York Times" and the governor of New York, Buffalo and the upstate region's hospital system is already overwhelmed by COVID and a shortage of healthcare workers because-- doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo.

- Yes, due to COVID.

JARED QUAY: Because COVID's not only real but pretty frickin' dangerous, the NHL started its Christmas break a few days early and has decided not to let its players participate in the 2022 Beijing Olympics.

- Son of a--

JARED QUAY: It's a bummer, but the decision should prevent players from missing extended time at their day job.

(SINGING) It's off to work we go.

The NHL aren't the only guys not playing. YouTube celebrity turned boxer Jake Paul has not only impressed in the ring, but he's got the whole boxing [BLEEP] [? talking ?] PR gig down.

- Oh, he's good.

JARED QUAY: After KO'ing Tyron Woodley last weekend, Paul is going to try to recruit UFC star Jorge Masvidal to fight him.

JAKE PAUL: Masvidal. I got an offer for you right now. $5 million guarantee--

- Ooh.

JAKE PAUL: Plus-- plus, percentage of pay per views.

- Oh, my--

JAKE PAUL: That's the most you would ever have made as a fight--

- Oh, my God.

JAKE PAUL: Ever.

JARED QUAY: Whoo! Sounds like a generous offer. So there's got to be a catch, right? You can give him that kind of money?

JAKE PAUL: Daddy Dana just has to let you out of your contract. You work for the UFC. You're a bitch, basically.

JARED QUAY: Ohh! [LAUGHS] Man, that's funny as hell. Paul talks all that [BLEEP] knowing Masvidal is under a contract so he can't take the fight. Wow, I don't know if that's genius or just dumb.

But at the same time, you never know. He might be like, I don't want no money. You said you want to fight me. I'm going to fight you in the grocery store. You know, it's crazy. You see it all the time. He might fight him in the airport. A lot of fights an airport these days.
