Roundup: Zane Trace softball hands Unioto first SVC loss

SOFTBALL

Zane Trace 5, Unioto 3: The Pioneers handed the visiting Shermans their first SVC loss of the season on Thursday night after scoring all five of their runs in the first three innings. Brynn Wipert went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs while also pitching a complete game. Wipert struck out one batter, allowed three earned runs on six hits and didn't walk a single batter.

Abby Guffey went 1-for-3 and scored two runs, while Alayna Butler was hit by a pitch and scored twice. Lexi Scott also went 1-for-3 on the day, and she scored a run as well.

Megan Miller led the Shermans on offense after going 1-for-3 with a double, a run and two RBIs. Alexis Book notched a hit, a run and stole two bases, and Morgan Daniels notched a hit and a run. Hannah Hull went 1-for-3 with an RBI, while Ava Dettwiller and Emma Specht notched one hit apiece.

Adena 14, Piketon 1: The Warriors used nine runs in the first inning to power past the Redstreaks on Thursday. Caelan Miner went 3-for-3 with a home run, three runs and two RBIs, and Adriana Guarnieri went 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run. Kiera Williams added two hits, two runs, two RBIs and three stolen bases, Caroline Corcoran went 1-for-2 with an RBI and two runs. Sophie Cheesebrew picked up two hits, an RBI and a run, and Emma Garrison added a hit, an RBI and a run.

Greenlee Bossert notched the win in the circle for Adena. Bossert pitched three innings, during which she allowed just three hits and struck out three batters.

The Redstreaks recorded four hits in the loss. Danika Ritchie went 2-for-3 and scored a run, while Natalie Cooper hit a double. Laney Brown notched a hit as well.

VOLLEYBALL

Westfall 3, Eastmoor Academy 0: The Mustangs sent a pair of seniors off in style after completing a Senior Night sweep over the Warriors on Thursday. They won all three sets by margins of 25-15, 25-15 and 25-21. Ben Bundock led the Mustangs with five kills and one solo block, and he also put up two aces. Avry Justus posted a team-high 10 digs, while Dalton Bush and Colton Spaniol each recorded eight.

Bush also led the team with four aces while adding four assists and two kills. Spaniol notched three kills as well. Jackson Thomas led the Mustangs with 12 assists, and he tied Bundock with a solo block. Dawson Spaniol put up four kills and an ace in the win.

TENNIS

Chillicothe 3, Miami Trace 2: The Cavaliers completed their perfect FAC record with a win over the Panthers on Thursday.

At No. 1 singles, Kaiden Koch won 6-6, 6-0, at No. 2 singles, Colin Halm was defeated 6-3, 3-6, 1-6, and at No. 3 singles, Asher Pendell won 6-0, 6-4. At No. 1 doubles, Allison Remley and Judea Harding were defeated 6-3, 2-6, 2-6, while Morgan Harper and Addie Price won the No. 2 doubles match 6-4, 1-6, 6-3.

The Cavaliers end the regular season 11-6 with an 8-0 record in the FAC. They will compete in the sectional tournament on Wednesday at Pickerington Central.

BASEBALL

Piketon 6, Adena 2: Cayde Conley pitched a near-complete game and asserted himself on the mound as the Redstreaks picked up a win over the Warriors on Thursday. Conley pitched six and one-third innings, struck out four batters and allowed just one earned run on seven hits. Grayson Roberts notched the final two outs after forcing a double play in just two pitches.

Zack Hannah went 1-for-2 with two RBIs and a pair of runs for the Redstreaks, while Buddy Wilson went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Garrett Legg logged two hits and a run, Ashton Cormany tallied a hit and an RBI, and Gage Dofflemyer put up a hit and a run.

Christian Heath went 2-for-4 with a double for the Warriors, while Andrew Vickers hit a double and scored a run. Mason Dyer added on two hits, a run and a stolen base in the loss.

Jackson 9, Chillicothe 8: The Cavaliers suffered a Frontier Athletic Conference loss after falling to the hosting Ironmen in a walk-off on Thursday night. Jack Oyer pitched two and one-third innings of relief for starter Trent Wade, and he gave up two unearned runs in that span.

Jacob Lemaster led Chillicothe's offense after logging three hits, including a double, and batting in four runs. Mason Brown tallied two hits and three runs, and Ayden Hutchison hit a double and scored a run. Coen Butler and Mason Siberell each ended the game with one hit, an RBI and a run.

Unioto 13, Zane Trace 2: The Shermans defeated the Pioneers in six innings after pounding out 16 hits at home on Thursday. Micah Geise hit two doubles, batted in four runs and scored three times to end the day 4-for-5. Keegan Snyder also went 4-for-5, adding three RBIs and two runs.

Andrew Griffin went 2-for-5 with a triple, two RBIs and two runs, and Landyn Patterson and KB Perkins tallied two hits, an RBI and a run apiece. Braxton Platt logged a hit, a run and an RBI, and Isaiah Leeth put up a hit and an RBI. Ashton Crace also scored three runs. Owen Link earned the win on the mound after pitching five innings, during which he struck out nine and allowed just two hits.

Blake Phillips went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI for the Pioneers. Rece Allen scored a run and Austen Ison put up an RBI.

Waverly 15, Eastern 5: The Tigers batted around and took down the Eagles on Thursday night. Hunter Hauck went 3-for-4 with a home run, three RBIs and three runs. Ben Nichols went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs, and Quinton Hurd went 2-for-3 with a double and a run.

Jamison Morton added three hits, two RBIs and a run, and Tanner Nichols and Peyton Harris each put up two RBIs, a hit and a run. LT Jordan hit a triple and scored two runs, and Jase Hurd hit a double and scored three runs.

Tanner Nichols got the win on the mound after pitching two innings and striking out a pair. Quinton Hurd pitched three innings, during which he allowed just one hit and struck out seven.
