Roundup: Licking Valley’s Croak wins regional title in discus
Trevor Croak threw a distance of 162-feet-5 to win the discus for the Licking Valley boys track team Thursday during the Division II regional championships at Lexington.
Croak finished ahead of River Valley’s Ethan Lyon, who recorded a runner-up distance of 156-6. Heath’s Carter Higgins placed fourth (153-5) in the event to join Croak as qualifiers for next week’s state championships in Dayton.
Valley’s Cooper Hornfeck placed third in the pole vault (14-0) to also qualify. Northridge’s Bodhi Foster finished 13th (12-6) and Heath’s Tyler Hudson 16th (12-0) in the event.
Valley’s Jacob Wheeler placed seventh in the long jump (21-2.5), and Heath’s Brayden Bayles finished 16th (13-9.5). Heath’s Tucker See, Jacob Lane, Joe Ward and Ryan Baker finished ninth in the 3,200 relay (8:23.72), and Johnstown’s Cameron Beverick, Brenden Ball, Collin Willard and Aidan Howard finished 11th (8:26.11) in the event.
In the girls meet, Johnstown’s Sydney Bruning finished 13th in the shot put (33-4.75). Reece Savage, Allison Bonito, Maren Boston and Audrey McCrady finished 11th in the 3,200 relay (10:00.67).
