Rookie Jalen Green out for at least another week

Houston Rockets fans hoping to see rookie Jalen Green back on the court will have to wait at least another week, according to Rockets head coach Stephen Silas.

“Nothing really new,” said coach Silas during his pregame press conference on Friday. “He is still injured. He is progressing in a good manner but slowly.”

There was a chance that the No. 2 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft would make it back on the court within the next couple of games at the Toyota Center, but that notion was quickly dismissed.

“We’re just going to continue to evaluate week-by-week,” coach Silas reiterated to the media. “But he’s not going to play any time soon.”

Green has been out of the Rockets’ starting lineup since he strained his right hamstring against the Chicago Bulls on Nov. 24. In his absence, Houston inserted Garrison Matthews into the rotation and since gone on a four-game winning streak.
