RHONY's Dorinda Medley's Favorite Halloween Decor Is All Available on Amazon
Real Housewives of New York City star Dorinda Medley definitely knows a thing or two about home decor—just take one look at her Stanford White-designed Berkshires estate, Blue Stone Manor, which was available to rent through Airbnb earlier this year. Naturally, tricking out her countryside home for Halloween was a must—and the television personality knew just how to do it with style.
While visiting Medley’s regal abode during spooky season, expect to see a Halloween-themed doorbell that lets out a loud shriek whenever it is pressed, aptly letting the hostess know her guests have arrived. A key part of Medley’s home decor for Halloween is centered around smart-home technology from Amazon and Ring, including voice-enabled devices such as the Echo Show 10, Ring Video Doorbell and a matching Seasonal Faceplate, plus an Amazon Smart Plug.
The best part of this fancy tech? All Medley has to do is say the words “make it nice and spooky”—a Halloween-ified version of her catchphrase “make it nice”—and her entire house becomes a spooktacular spot in mere seconds, with all of the Halloween lights turning on in an instant. Of course, no Halloween setup is complete without some eerie music, so Medley calls on her Alexa device to play a selection of scary tunes once her guests have arrived.
Beyond celebrating Halloween, Medley enjoys all aspects of decorating—a passion that's been passed down in her family for generations. “I come from a long line of decorators—my great-grandmother, my grandmother, my mother,” she tells House Beautiful. Medley adds that her own home decor is a mix of old and new finds, proving that there are no rules when it comes to decorating.
To achieve her chic Halloween decor vision, Medley incorporated floral bouquets in autumnal colors (complete with inserts, like skulls and bloody hands!)—and no shortage of string lights throughout her home.
