Feb. 17—Below are area boys and girls basketball results from this past week.

THURSDAY

BOYS BASKETBALL

Mt. Zion 76, Effingham 53

Effingham fell to Mt. Zion in an Apollo Conference game, 76-53, at Effingham High School.

Cannon Bockhorn had 15 points. KJ Kellams had 10. Nolan Fearday had nine. Wade Bushur and Hayden Wendling each had five. Adam Flack had four. Ethan Jones had three, and Rylan Pals had two.

Effingham trailed 26-14 after the first quarter, 42-28 at halftime, and 58-43 at the end of the third. Mt. Zion outscored the Flaming Hearts 18-10 in the fourth.

Olney (Richland County) 44, Teutopolis 39

Teutopolis fell to Olney (Richland County), 44-39, at Richland County High School.

Joey Niebrugge had 12 points. Garrett Gaddis had nine. Austin Bloemer had seven. Alex Kremer had five. Zac Niebrugge had three. Mitch Koester had two, and Tyler Pruemer had one.

Richland County led 16-6 after the first quarter, 22-15 at halftime, and 29-27 at the end of the third. The Wooden Shoes were outscored 15-12 in the fourth.

Dieterich 66, Grayville 44

Dieterich defeated Grayville, 66-44, at Grayville High School.

Lucas Westendorf had 22 points. Caleb Gephart had 15. Landen Keck had 10. Tanner Will had eight. Jaxon Funneman had six, and Kaden Iffert had three.

The Movin Maroons led 19-11 after the first quarter, 34-26 at halftime, and 53-36 at the end of the third quarter. Dieterich outscored Grayville 13-8 in the fourth.

Neoga 52, Hume (Shiloh)/Kansas-Oakland 45

Neoga defeated Tri-County, 52-45, at Neoga High School.

Trey Sheehan had 14 points. James Bullock and Gavin Ray each had 12. Braydon Letterle had seven. Luke Keller had three, and Landon Titus had two.

The Indians led 14-9 after the first quarter. Both teams were tied at 21 at halftime. Neoga led 33-28 after the third quarter and outscored Tri-County 19-17 in the fourth.

TUESDAY

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Farina (South Central) 54, Louisville (North Clay) 48

South Central defeated North Clay in a regional semifinal of the Class 1A Nokomis Sectional, 54-48, at Centralia (Christ Our Rock Lutheran) High School.

Taegan Webster had 19 points. Lauren Johnson had 11. Kaitlyn Swift and Brooke Cowger had eight each. Percilla Reid had three, and Addie Conant had two for the Lady Cougars.

Miah Ballard had 24 points. Alexis VanDyke had 10. Matia Price had seven. Leah Wetherholt had six, and Ava Fleener had one for the Lady Cardinals.

South Central led 16-11 after the first quarter. North Clay took a 21-18 lead into halftime and led 33-28 at the end of the third. The Lady Cougars outscored the Lady Cardinals 25-15 in the fourth.

SATURDAY

BOYS BASKETBALL

Effingham (St. Anthony) 43, Nokomis 30

St. Anthony defeated Nokomis in Game 4 of the NTC/CIC Shootout, 43-30, at Warrensburg-Latham High School.

Ryan Schmidt had 17 points. Brock Fearday had eight. Collin Westendorf had six. Brady Hatton had four. Max Koenig and Nick Ruholl had three each, and Sam Link had two.

Both teams were tied at nine at the end of the first quarter. St. Anthony led 13-6 at the halftime, 12-5 after the third. Nokomis outscored St. Anthony 10-9 in the fourth.

Dieterich 56, Shelbyville 49

Dieterich defeated Shelbyville in Game 3 of the NTC/CIC Shootout, 56-49.

Lucas Westendorf had 19 points. Landen Keck had 15. Jaxon Funneman and Caleb Gephart each had seven. Luke Wente and Kaden Iffert each had three, and Tanner Will had two.

The Movin Maroons led 6-5 after the first quarter. Both teams were tied at 22 at halftime. Shelbyville led 37-36 after the third before Dieterich outscored Shelbyville 20-12 in the fourth.

Tuscola 43, Altamont 30

Altamont fell to Tuscola in Game 8 of the NTC/CIC Shootout, 43-30.

Kaden Davis had 10 points and two steals. Kade Milleville had seven points, five rebounds, three assists, and one steal. Aden McManaway had seven points, five rebounds, one steal, and one block, and Kaidyn Miller had six points, 14 rebounds, one assists, one steal, and one block.

The Indians trailed 9-8 after the first quarter, 16-8 at halftime, and 36-20 at the end of the third. Altamont was outscored 10-7 in the fourth.

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 46, Sullivan 40

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City defeated Sullivan in Game 2 of the NTC/CIC Shootout, 46-40.

AJ Radloff had 13 points, three rebounds, four assists, and one steal. Clayton Wojcik had 11 points, five rebounds, and four assists. Gage Lorton had 10 points, six rebounds, and one steal. Wyatt Rueff had nine points, four rebounds, and one assist, and Kaidyn Calame had three points, five rebounds, four assists, and three steals.

The Bobcats trailed 20-16 after the first quarter and 32-22 at halftime. Both teams were tied at 36 after the third. CHBC outscored Sullivan 10-4 in the fourth.

Macon (Meridian) 57, Neoga 41

Neoga fell to Macon (Meridian) in Game 6 of the NTC/CIC Shootout, 57-41.

Warrensburg-Latham 63, St. Elmo/Brownstown 32

St. Elmo/Brownstown fell to Warrensburg-Latham in Game 7 of the NTC/CIC Shootout, 63-32.

Cade Schaub had nine points (4 of 6 shooting), three rebounds, one steal, and one assist. Adam Atwood had six points (2 of 7) and seven rebounds. Lowell Wilhour had five points (2 of 4) and one assist. Brody Mason had four points (2 of 7), two rebounds, and one block. Trenten Monnet had four points (2 of 3), two rebounds, one steal, and one block. Collin Maxey had two points, one rebound, and two assists, and Josiah Maxey had two points, one steal, and three assists.

Louisville (North Clay) 55, Moweaqua (Central A&M) 43

North Clay defeated Moweaqua (Central A&M) in Game 1 of the NTC/CIC Shootout, 55-43.

Carder Walden had 22 points. Cody Zimdars had eight. Gavin Hosselton and Jesse Weidner each had seven. Mason Byers had five, and Ethan Kuenstler and Lane Wolfe each had three.

The Cardinals trailed 14-7 after the first quarter, 25-15 at halftime, and 32-30 at the end of the third. North Clay outscored Central A&M 25-11 in the fourth.
