Report: Texas TE Jahleel Billingsley to declare for 2023 NFL Draft

Texas tight end Jahleel Billingsley is expected to declare for the 2023 NFL Draft, according to On3 Sports. He will not play in Texas’ Alamo Bowl matchup against Washington.

Billingsley played in just four games for Texas this season after transferring in from Alabama. He caught three passes for 38 yards as a Longhorn.

Playing time was sparse for Billingsley after facing a six-game suspension to start the season for a violation of team rules. Ja’Tavion Sanders grabbed hold of the starting job by the time Billingsley was able to get into the rotation.

Texas’ tight end unit remains in good shape despite the loss of Billingsley.

Ja’Tavion Sanders returns after a breakout season. Gunnar Helm and Juan Davis are options Steve Sarkisian speaks highly of behind Sanders in that spot. In addition, the Longhorns have two talented incoming freshmen to add quality depth to the room.
