New report puts damper on Lamar Jackson’s chances of joining Patriots

Well, all of the New England Patriots trading for Lamar Jackson talk was fun while it lasted.

The Boston Sports Journal’s Greg Bedard reported on Tuesday that the Patriots are “not expected to pursue” the Baltimore Ravens quarterback.

Patriots owner Robert Kraft revealed on Monday that he received a text from rapper Meek Mill stating that Jackson was interested in joining the Patriots. Kraft responded by putting the ball in coach Bill Belichick’s court, as he does with everything else involving the football team.

Yet, it was strange for him to put that news out there knowing the media would likely take it and run with it. Jackson is a former league MVP, and even the mere possibility of him joining New England is a huge story.

With that said, if Mac Jones struggles in his third season and the opportunity to snag a potential franchise quarterback like Jackson is still on the table, one has to wonder if the Patriots could have a change of heart.

This dream pairing might not be completely dead in the water just yet.
