Report: Portland Trail Blazers to have interest in Miles Bridges

As the Charlotte Hornets are finalizing their head coaching search, the offseason is inching closer with decisions to be made on their roster.

Their biggest roster decision this summer will be resigning forward Miles Bridges, who played the best basketball of his four-year career this season.

But, the Hornets will certainly have competitors vying to sign Bridges to an offer sheet.

Reported by Kevin O’Connor of The Ringer, the Portland Trail Blazers could have interest in Hornets’ forward Miles Bridges this offseason.

O’Connor writes:

“Sources say another player to keep in mind is Hornets forward Miles Bridges. Pistons forward Jerami Grant is often mentioned as a target for the Blazers, but the same logic applies for Bridges. Much like Grant, Portland desires a wing who can provide versatility on the wing plus secondary scoring. The difference is that Bridges is a restricted free agent while Grant is under contract.”

Bridges is set to hit restricted free agency this offseason after having a breakout season, averaging a career-high 20.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game. Charlotte attempted to sign Bridges to an extension prior to the season but the former Michigan State Spartan bet on himself and frankly, bet correctly.

For the Hornets, it seems highly unlikely that they wouldn’t match any offer given to Bridges nor consider a sign-and-trade, as he’s blossomed into their second-best player alongside LaMelo Ball, who he’s built a strong chemistry with on and off the court.
