Report: Kyrie Irving’s shoe deal with Nike likely to expire after next season

Brooklyn Nets superstar Kyrie Irving had his first signature Nike shoe released in 2014, but after a long and successful run with the company, it’s possible that the latest shoe set to release around the upcoming NBA season could be Irving’s last with Nike.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski and Ramona Shelburne reported that while Irving’s signature shoes remain popular and profitable for the company, the “turbulence surrounding Irving” has left Nike unlikely to extend his deal.

Via ESPN:

“Kyrie Irving has long had one of Nike’s most popular and profitable signature basketball shoes, but uncertainties surrounding his NBA future have left the company unlikely to extend him to a similar signature deal beyond the 2022-23 season, sources told ESPN.

Irving has a new edition of his shoe set to debut in the fall, but that is expected to be the final year of a lucrative signature series that he has had with Nike since 2014, sources said”
