Report: Bills discussing trade for Bears’ Jaylon Johnson
The Buffalo Bills reportedly have interest in Chicago Bears cornerback Jaylon Johnson.
According to ESPN’s Ed Werder, the Bills are discussing a potential trade for Johnson. The San Francisco 49ers are also said to be involved.
Ahead of the 2023 NFL trade deadline which is slated for Tuesday at 4pm, Johnson said requested to be traded by the Bears.
Johnson is on the final year of his rookie deal and will be a free agent at the end of the season.
The 24-year-old cornerback was drafted in the second round of the 2020 NFL draft. In 45 career games, Johnson has 143 tackles, including four for loss, with three interceptions and three forced fumbles. Pro Football Focus grades him as an 84.4 overall so far this season, the football analytics outlet’s third-best mark for any cornerback in the league.
Buffalo lost All-Pro Tre’Davious White (Achilles) for the season. Now the team seems to have given up on former first-round pick Kaiir Elam who might be traded himself.
