Record breaking year for GJHS Pirate swimming

Mar. 27—GREENSBURG — To say the 2024 season for the Greensburg Junior High School swim team was a record breaker might be an understatement. The young Pirates have totally re-written the record book for swimming at GJHS.

The Pirates broke every record, except for diving, this season. Greensburg's Harrison Yu set six individual records and was a part of the relay records. Jack Bennett set four individual records and was a member of the record-breaking relay teams.

"These incredible athletes attained some super records this year," GJHS's Susan Burkhart said. "As long as I have been at GJHS, I have never seen this. It is remarkable."

GJHS's 200 medley relay team of Bennett, Micah Reynolds, Yu and Maxwell Gauck set a school record of 2:00.77. The Pirate foursome also set the school record in the 200 freestyle relay at 1:48.85 and in the 400 freestyle relay of 4:10.47.
