Recapping additions the Philadelphia 76ers made in 2023 offseason

The 2023-24 season is right around the corner for the Philadelphia 76ers with training camp beginning on Oct. 3 and the season getting underway on Oct. 26. Thus will begin another 82-game adventure in Sixers history and now is the time to begin previewing the upcoming season.

Philadelphia was limited in what they could do in the 2023 offseason with everything hinging on the James Harden situation. It has been a tumultuous summer for the franchise as The Beard made it clear that he wants out and the Sixers had to focus on trying to resolve that situation.

To recap, here are the moves the Sixers made to add to their roster for the 2023-24 season:

Beverley was brought in on a 1-year deal after averaging 6.2 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 2.9 assists in 67 games played for the Los Angeles Lakers and the Chicago Bulls. He is expected to provide a little bit of everything on the floor for Philadelphia.

Like Beverley, the Sixers brought Bamba in on a 1-year deal in free agency. He averaged 6.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 0.9 blocks in 49 games for the Lakers and the Orlando Magic in 2022-23. He dealt with a slew of injuries, but he is expected to help off the bench in Philadelphia.

Kelly Oubre Jr.

Oubre Jr. was also brought in on a 1-year deal after averaging 20.3 points and 5.2 rebounds in 48 games for the Charlotte Hornets in 2022-23. He will be looking to contribute to a contending team and give the Sixers a boost to their bench unit.

Danny Green

Back for a second tour of duty in Philadelphia, Green was brought in on a non-guaranteed contract. He averaged 5.5 points and 1.3 rebounds in just 11 games for the Memphis Grizzlies and the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2022-23 after recovering from a torn ACL in his final game with the Sixers in the 2022 playoffs.

Paul Reed

Reed almost left Philadelphia. The restricted free agent signed a 3-year $24 million offer sheet with the Utah Jazz which the Sixers then matched to keep him in the City of Brotherly Love. He averaged 4.2 points and 3.8 rebounds in the 2022-23 season.

Montrezl Harrell

Harrell opted out of his deal before re-upping in Philadelphia on a 1-year deal in free agency. After averaging 5.6 points and 2.8 rebounds in 2022-23, he will likely miss the entirety of 2023-24 due to a torn ACL he suffered in the offseason.

Terquavion Smith
