Welcome to Thursday, Day Whatever of Bryce Harper Watch. In actual action, we’ll start with Dwyane Wade turning back the clock and end with LBJ vs. The NBA’s Highest Paid Part-Time Player.

Uh, did you see what D-Wade did?

Not sure what to call that (see above) other than a prayer. A prayer that was answered. It gave the Heat a much-needed win in the “race” for the East’s eight seed and handed the Warriors a loss that, in the grand scheme of things, doesn’t matter much.

If that was the last great D-Wade highlight, not bad.

As for the NBA’s highest-paid part-time player…

With just over three minutes left in the third quarter, and the Lakers leading the Pelicans by three, Anthony Davis walked to the bench, took a seat and peeled the tape off his fingers … done for the night, having reached his team-dictated 20-some-minute quota.

Nineteen more games of a charade that is making losers of everyone involved. And that light at the end of tunnel? Those who’ve been on Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride know it’s not what it seems.

By the way, the Lakers won the game by six.

CFL: Johnny Manziel banned from Canadian football

Johnny Football is done in Canada, though the exact reason why isn’t quite clear. Technically the Montreal Alouettes released him, but that was at the direction of the CFL, which said Manziel had “violated one of the conditions we had set for him to be in our league.” The league would not reveal what that violation is and will not allow any of its teams to sign him.

NBA: Bagley leaves game with knee injury

Potentially rough news for the playoff-seeking Sacramento Kings. Marvin Bagley III, the second-overall pick in last year’s draft, left Wednesday night’s game against the Bucks after running hard into a Malcolm Brogdon pick. Bagley fell to the ground, grabbed his left knee and was done. An MRI is scheduled for Thursday.

MLB: Kenny Lofton is pissed at PED users

It’s been more than a decade since Kenny Lofton put on a uniform, but he’s still holding a grudge over PED users, who he thinks have, in part, kept him from the Hall of Fame. “You’ve got Fox having a guy who got caught with PEDs [Alex Rodriguez] doing the World Series,” he said. “I can’t even watch the World Series now.” OK, then.
