RCTC women's soccer team advances to regional championship with lopsided win

Oct. 19—ROCHESTER — The Rochester Community and Technical College women's soccer team continued its dominant season, blasting Lake Superior College 8-1 in the semifinals of the NJCAA Region XIII Tournament on Wednesday.

Mya Hermann scored three goals and had two assists for the Yellowjackets, who moved to 9-1-2 overall and are ranked No. 7 in NJCAA Division III.

Emily Morales had two goals for RCTC. Mackenzie Polson, Madison Harden and McKenna Baker each had one, and Emma Buck had a pair of assists.

"The coaches are really proud of the team," RCTC coach Bryan Weiss said. "We took control of the match immediately. Mya Hermann scored her first of three goals in the second minute. We didn't look back from there. We had a comfortable 6-0 lead at the end of the first half and were able to work on some things in the second half."

RCTC will play against at noon Saturday, hosting the region title game at noon.
