Rare Michael Jordan Olympic jacket up for auction
NBA legend Michael Jordan is one of the most collectible athletes in the business of sports memorabilia. From sports cards, to shoes and everything in between, Jordan merchandise is a hot seller to this day.
And now a very rare and historic piece is up for auction.
Sotheby’s announced the company is auctioning off a Michael Jordan’s Gold Medal Dream Team jacket from the 1992 Olympic Games. This jacket has a significant detail as it’s the jacket that Jordan covered the Reebok logo on with the American flag on the medal stand. Jordan was sponsored by Nike and made the decision to cover the logo:

It’s a very interesting backstory to the jacket and if you’ve followed Jordan’s career, you’ve probably seen the photo of him on the medal stand with the American flag. He even went into detail about the situation in the 2020 documentary “The Last Dance” where he was displeased with Executive Director of the United States Olympic Committee Harvey Schiller. In an episode, Jordan was not happy with Schiller not letting Team USA athletes accept their gold medals unless they wore the Reebok apparel.
With the autograph and cool backstory to this jacket, it likely will hit a big number at the auction.
