Ranked again: Colorado State men’s basketball rejoins top-25 polls

After one week on the outside, the Colorado State men’s basketball team is back in the rankings.

The Rams rejoined the top-25 polls on Monday following a pair of home wins last week.

CSU (15-3, 3-2 Mountain West) is now ranked No. 23 in the USA Today Coaches poll and No. 24 in the AP poll.

The Rams had been ranked for seven weeks in a row prior but dropped out following road losses at Utah State and Boise State. They were one spot outside the top 25 in both polls last week.

CSU was home last week and had two tight games but pulled out a pair of victories. The Rams had a wild last-minute comeback to force overtime with Air Force and then dominated the extra period. CSU then overcame a 10-point second-half deficit to beat UNLV in a sold-out "orange out" game.

This week brings another pair of road tests for the Rams. CSU plays at Nevada Wednesday, Jan. 24 (8:30 p.m., FS1) and at Wyoming Saturday, Jan. 27 (2 p.m., MW Network).

Nevada is an NCAA Tournament hopeful but has lost three in a row, including Saturday at Wyoming, and will be desperate for a bounce-back win. CSU will be hunting a vital first road conference win.

Other Mountain West teams in the polls:

  • Utah State: No. 18 (AP), No. 20 (coaches)

  • New Mexico: No. 25 (both polls)

  • San Diego State: Receiving votes (both polls)

  • Boise State: Receiving votes (both polls)
