Randall's Haleigh Burns to take over as volleyball coach at Amarillo High

Highly successful Randall volleyball coach Haleigh Burns will be changing her coaching address next season. Amarillo ISD Director of Athletics Brad Thiessen stated Monday in a release that Burns will take over as the new head volleyball coach at Amarillo High.

Burns will replace former Sandies coach Mike Moffitt, who took a job at Lubbock-Cooper.

During her stint at Randall, Burns has led the Raiders to three state tournament appearances and winning the state title in 2022. Randall finished as state runner-up in 2023, falling to Comal Davenport in the state final. Burns also has been the head coach at Caprock High School during her career.

“We are really excited about Coach Burns coming to Amarillo High as the Head Volleyball Coach,” Thiessen stated in a release. “Her record at Randall speaks for itself. What is really impressive is how hard she gets her kids to play every year. She builds those relationships that are so important to success. We really look forward to watching her lead the program at Amarillo High.”
