Raiders Week 7 snap counts vs Bears: CB Tyler Hall goes from spot starter to zero snaps

With Nate Hobbs missing the past month with an ankle injury, the Raiders have needed some other cornerbacks to step up. The primary two cornerbacks who had done that were Amik Robertson and Tyler Hall.

In fact, in the team’s wins over the Packers and Patriots in Weeks five and six, Hall was elevated from the practice squad and started those games.

His performance in those games, along with the continued absence of Hobbs got Hall signed to the active roster the moment a spot opened up. And it had Josh McDaniels saying this about him.

“I mean, he did it last year too when he had his opportunities,” McDaniels said of Hall. “He went in there and he’s just been productive. He knows what to do, he’s a very smart kid, he prepares really hard. Very diligent when he’s not on the active, he prepares just like he’s going to play. And then when we’ve elevated him a handful of times here in two years. He does his job, he’s dependable, he communicates well with the rest of the secondary and the defense, and he makes plays. He’s productive, he tackles, he runs to the ball, he covers, and he contributes in the kicking game too. So, all the things you would want a player to do that’s on the practice squad trying to get himself elevated to the game, Tyler does them, and when he’s ready to go, he’s made the most of his opportunities.”

Come game time, rookie CB Jakorian Bennett was inactive which would mean you figure the team is once again looking to Hall, right? Not so much.

Oddly, Hall didn’t see a single snap on defense. Meanwhile they put a reprehensible product on the field and were ran out of Chicago. Seems like they could’ve used a guy who tackles and runs to the ball. But nah.
