Quenton Nelson not changing positions

It didn’t take long for Quenton Nelson to live up to the billing with the Indianapolis Colts. After becoming the highest ever selected guard in the 2018 NFL draft, Nelson earned All-Pro honors for the Colts each of his first three seasons.

He fought through injuries in 2021 but had another stellar campaign despite the Colts coughing up a playoff bid in the season’s final week with a loss at Jacksonville.

When the Colts season ends the last few years one of the first questions you seem to hear is “Will Quenton Nelson move to left tackle?”

There is logic behind the thinking because even if he were simply a good tackle and not great like he is at guard, it could possibly better the Colts offense. Colts general manager Chris Ballard quickly shot down any speculation to that idea in his end-of-season press conference Thursday.

Nelson will stay at guard again for the 2022 season which means the Colts may have several things to worry about fixing this off-season, but that position certainly isn’t one of them.
