Professional sports team coming to Brockton in 2024

Starting next year, the Brockton Rox won't be the only baseball team to call Campanelli Stadium home.

The Brockton Rox announced Thursday afternoon that Rox owner Brian Kahn has been revealed as the 16th member of the Frontier League, an independent professional baseball league that had 15 teams this past season in both the United States and Canada, and he plans to launch a team this year. The team in Brockton will be the league's 16th.

Campanelli Stadium is set to become a dual-host to both teams, offering fans an 80-game schedule, 32 of those games coming from the Rox in the Futures League, the Rox said in a press release.

“I am proud to sponsor another summer season of Brockton Rox baseball at Campanelli Stadium in 2024," Kahn said. "Adding a professional baseball team that will also call Campanelli Stadium home, ensures that our community will have access to high-quality baseball, in varying forms every day of summer in 2024. It’s an incredible opportunity to showcase the talent and passion for baseball in our community. We’re committed to delivering an outstanding experience for our fans in the ballpark and giving young athletes a platform to help them accomplish their life goals.”

“Brockton has a rich tradition of baseball and now Campanelli Stadium will be bringing twice as much excitement to their fans,” Futures League commissioner Joe Paolucci said. “The Futures League is thrilled for Brian as he embarks on this new venture. We look forward to a great 2024 season of Futures League baseball with the Brockton Rox.”

The Futures League’s 2024 schedule will be released later this fall. Opening day is set for late May.
